Massapequa Diner

The Massapequa Diner is the quintessential Long Island “Greek” diner. Not just a touchstone in the early coffee-drinking career of Jerry Seinfeld.

EDIT: Not only did the Diner communicate with me in a timely and professional manner, I can assure you that they made my situation right. Changing my review to 5 stars with full confidence. Fantastic establishment!

First and Foremost I want to say I have been coming here for years and the food fantastic.

I’m not sure if this is new, or if I had just never noticed, but tonight I looked at my receipt and saw that the math on my sub total did not add up to the amount of my items together (pre tax.) $2.25 more.

When I asked about it, I was told that they charge a .75 cent “To go fee” PER ITEM, to make up for the cost of containers and preparation (???)

I have 2 issues with this. The first being that if it’s 75 cents per item then why did I get charged that 3 times instead of 2 ($1.50), and also why is the charge not visible on the bill? To me it looks like they manipulated the amount to get more.

Now I’m not even upset about the To Go Charge, many places have done that for different reasons, it’s a stretch, but it happens. I’m upset that there is no transparency on it and that unless you do the math yourself you would have no idea the charge is even there. When it comes to money there should be full transparency, to me that’s poor business not to.

The resolution is that they gave me back .75 cents to make it back down to the correct hidden “to go charge”, which wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t done the math myself.

I very much enjoy coming to this Diner, I just wish they were more transparent with their pricing, and for that I have to lower my review rating.

And a side note: They also forgot the Coleslaw and Pickle with the burger delux, a crime that warrants a 1 star rating, but I’m willing to let that slide if it means the establishment reads and considers a solution to the above issue for their future customers

The Massapequa Diner is everything a great local diner should be welcoming, consistent, and always on point. The food is outstanding, whether you’re stopping in for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Everything is fresh, generous in portion, and served exactly the way you hope it will be. It’s comfort food done right.

What truly makes this place special, though, is the owner, Nick. He runs the diner with pride and heart. You can see his hands-on approach the moment you walk in. He’s present, attentive, and genuinely cares about every customer’s experience. Nick goes above and beyond to make people feel like family, and that kind of leadership shows in the quality of the food and the professionalism of the staff.

In a world where customer service sometimes feels rushed or impersonal, the Massapequa Diner stands out. Nick has created more than just a diner, he’s created a community staple.

Highly recommend. Five stars all the way. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I ordered a Tuna Melt, I got the 2 sides of a toasted English muffin with a scoop of cold tuna salad, and a slice of American cheese. The whole thing was put under a heating element long enough to slightly melt the cheese… disappointing, I was hungry and not in the mood to wait for it to be done correctly, so I ate it… got fries and brown gravy which was good…. and the cold slaw is always good

An absolute staple in the Massapequa area. Great for breakfast, especially on Sunday morning. Nice staff. Quick service. Always a line but it moves quickly. Reasonably priced. Credit cards are accepted. Seen on Netflix: Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee ☕️. Give this place a try if you’re in the area. We will definitely be going back.

Best diner food ive had in years got the steak burger and French toast. Burger was amazing , French toast tasted like they soaked it overnight the way grandma used to do. Staff was very attentive and friendly, will go out of my way from queens again just for them.

I came in at dinner rush and waited not too long and food was good ! The host and cashier up front great and bus boys! Come to our server beacuse of separate check and look on pick faces of couple of friends the server didn’t check up that much to we chase him down for refills and the check and didn’t even offer desert ! Did a ten min soup and salad to table before regular food! Even ask him not to do that! I understand it was dinner rush but didn’t see if food was wrong or under cook! Happy holidays to rest of the staff that work in that diner they good job!

Not worth your money. First, I ordered a Chicken Ceasar Salad Wrap with fries. The waitress brought out my fries and said “this will keep you busy”. I thought it was odd that my order was coming out separately considering I thought it was one meal. Then, she brings out a Chicken Ceasar Salad (not wrap). I thought ok no big deal. I wasn’t going to crash out over a tortilla. Well- the salad tasted purely like onion and garlic powder. The chicken was as bland as could be. I put it to the side and the waitress walks past our table around 3 times and didn’t say anything. Finally she comes around and says “are you taking that to go” and I explained how I ordered a wrap not a salad, and I simply did not like the salad and wasn’t going to be eating it or taking it to go. She got defensive and my boyfriend stepped in saying that I did indeed order a wrap not a salad. Anyways, I don’t know how you manage to mess up a ceasar salad. She then walked away with the plate and said “i’ll take it off the bill”. I was never asked if I wanted something else or anything. The next thing we were asked is “do you want the tab?” As my boyfriend and I are looking at the tab, we saw we were charged over $7 for a side of fries. Personally, I will not be returning. The staff who seated us (2 gentlemen) and the bussers were all pleasant. The waitress however was not.

GO TO ANOTHER DINER! Bunch of retired widows – highest tax bracket – most disposable income with least amount of drive to cook anymore will not be returning. Your loss! While the food was fine and the service fine, I was so annoyed that they wouldn’t give us a corner booth. That, we were told, was for a party of 7 (we were 5). Really? No party sat there for 2 hours! I was tempted to leave. I can’t imagine people being so unaccommodating. But I didn’t want to make everyone get back into their car to drive to any other diner! There are still too many good ones to be bothered with Massapequa. I won’t be returning. I will take my diner-frequenting butt to the Lindenhurst, Embassy, Carle Place, Nautilus, Oconee, Infinity, Grand Stage, Colonie – any place else that can be nicer to customers.

It is hard to find a good diner now a days, and after all these years the Massapequa Diner is still amazing. The diner is beautiful and classy, the staff is unbelievably kind and on top of their game and the food is delicious!! Waitress Christina is the bomb, she’s truly incredible!
