House Soup for $2. Appetizer for $7. For less than $10 you can get a delicious sharable date or for yourself snack or meal. So many sushi roll options they have less than $10 sushi roll options, or up to $20 with things like sushi boats and other wonderful things.
Next to the sushi bar, you also have the hibachi grill where the chefs prepare the food in front of you. The food is excellent and well worth the cost because it’s affordable and tasty.

Sushi was good overall, but a few simple things would have improved my experience. My small hot Sake “was and it wasn’t”…….It was definitely “small”, too small. But hot it wasn’t. My waitress was pleasant but not very attentive. My Unagi was served cold. A brief stint in a toaster oven would have improved it immensely.

Sushi and hibachi were both okay, but nothing really stood out. It was fine for a casual meal but not something I’d go out of my way for again.

Excellent atmosphere. Ordered appetizers while we waited for her to go sushi. So we got to experience both dine in and take out. They were quick to create an excellent in flavor. Highly recommended looking forward to stopping back in.

Massaki used to be great, last few years I have been disappointed enough times I don’t think I will keep this restaurant in my repertoire. We got five sushi rolls and yakisoba. Two rolls were decent, two were bland and low quality fish. For the last one I’ve never seen a Texas steak roll so figured it might be amazing. I expected rare or at least medium steak beings it was sushi along with raw fish and soft rice, instead it was extremely overcooked and tough as shoe leather. When I told the waitress she just shrugged her shoulders and walked away, the entire meal she seemed like she was in a bad mood though. It was early around 4 and they were not busy and we certainly didn’t ask for anything complicated maybe she just got bad news or something. The yakisoba and chicken was dried out with some hard pieces and rather unremarkable, I was surprised when I found they charge $20 for something worse than Ramen. Overall at this point I would go to the food truck or even Martin’s for sushi and that is just as bad as it sounds. I forgot to take photos of our dissapointing dinner while we were there but got pictures of the doggy boxes before we threw it out

We ordered takeout sushi from Massaki Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar and tried the Love Boat, which included a mix of rolls and sashimi. Portion wise it was generous.
The sashimi seemed somewhat fresh, but the pieces were enormous—almost like eating sushi steaks. It would have been much more enjoyable if they were cut into bite-sized portions.
The rolls themselves were just okay—edible but nothing special. One roll had a pink and yellow garnish on top that was extremely salty, so we quickly discarded it. The soy sauce provided was also on the saltier side, and the wasabi lacked any real kick, feeling like the pre-packaged kind.
Also, what’s up with the styrofoam takeout containers? Presentation-wise, it didn’t do the sushi any favors and made the whole experience feel less appealing.
On a positive note, the restaurant seemed busy with hibachi diners, and our order was ready within the estimated time.
Overall, if you’re craving hibachi, it might be a better option here. For sushi, there’s room for improvement.

firstly the servers and bussers were fantastic at handling such a large table of around +20 people yall did such a good job (⁎⁍̴̆Ɛ⁍̴̆⁎)
moving onto the food it was super super good and since we were at a hibachi table they made our food rightttt infront of us (as seen in the video) super good presentation good job chef (^_−)−☆
three of the youngest kids in our table also did the act where they needed to catch the chicken as the hibachi chef was throwing it and it was cool (i almost got pulled into it..) (´-`).。oO
i had to order 2 of the beef tataki because it was too good (о´∀`о)
i liked the place as a whole because the restaurant lights weren’t super high so it was really good (〃ω〃)
the servers were also really nice and took our time with us !! it didn’t seemed rushed at all !! they didn’t have a “omg why are we still here let me go home and celebrate the new year ” WHICH I wouldn’t blame them either way cuz me too… (๑・̑◡・̑๑)

We went searching for Asian cuisine in Staunton and didn’t want a national franchise option. Enter Massaki. Don’t let the unassuming mini-strip location or facade throw you. Head right in and find a warm, hospitable and professional establishment. There was a steady stream of takeout, diners and those waiting for tables. The menu was extensive and creative. Everything from classic sushimi to rolls to the signature hibachi grill fare (flames, trick cookery and all).
We ordered takeaway and selected miso soup along with 3 signature rolls. There was about a 40 minute wait but the chef is an artist. The miso was rich and creamy. The rolls had abundant proteins, fresh veggies, perfect rice and artistic garnishes made these works of culinary art. Large, flavorful and well balanced flavors plus pickled ginger for the palate cleanser showed the attention to detail. Must try? The Gator – deep fried magic!
Ready to return tomorrow! I caught myself telling anyone that I met about Missaki and sharing the pictures of some of the best food I’ve ever eaten anywhere.

I went for lunch and got hibachi. They have the hibachi tables operating at dinner if that’s something you are interested in. I got the hibachi steak. It comes with a soup, salad, and then rice + veggies. The soup broth is yummy. The salad is essentially iceberg lettuce with dressing on it. The meal itself was okay. There is a TON of rice. If you are ordering take out I would say you could order one meal if they did extra portions of protein. It was a bit bland, but adding soy sauce definitely helped. Wouldn’t say it’s a place worth going out of your way for. It’s not very expensive.
They do have a full sushi menu as well. The online menu wasn’t currently working, but there is a wide variety of rolls. The staff is very friendly

After talking to the manager the establishment appears not to be allergy/dietary restriction friendly, inconsistent, and unkind about it. I came here the day after a hard diagnosis to have some comfort. It had always been a good experience and I was told they were allergy/food restriction friendly. I got carry out this time and the man on phone was happy to accommodate my order and was really patient even after I discussed my allergies. A chef was also caring of my guest’s restrictions dining in last time which were the same as mine now. Today the manager told us in a hurtful way that my health needs are too much of a burden on the restaurants reputation of great taste, that they don’t have time to make the order, and it is too much of a liability. She then admitted they weren’t even busy when we came back to get a correction to our messed up order. She said one allergy/restriction was one thing but we had too many. There were many ways they could have told me they aren’t allergy compatible in a kind way. When my guest called about the order the manager said “it isn’t the way we like to cook.” We will not return and they will also be losing business from loved ones who have found it to be their favorite place to go with us. We don’t even go often. I’ve never been treated like I am not welcome at a business. We were kind to the staff. My guest and I left feeling awful. After I ordered I was so eager to write a 5 star review. Now I can’t.
