Reviews
Fresh juices were excellent, and the Mango Kunafa was one of the best I’ve had. Service was okay but sometimes hard to get staff attention. Reservations are recommended as the place gets busy.
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming — true Egyptian hospitality. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and happy to explain the dishes for anyone new to Egyptian cuisine.
The food? Outstanding. The koshari was perfectly balanced and full of flavor, the mixed grill was juicy and well-seasoned, and every bite tasted homemade and authentic. You can truly tell they cook with heart. And don’t leave without trying the kunafa — it was the perfect sweet ending!
Portions are generous, prices are very reasonable, and the quality is consistent. It honestly feels like a little piece of Egypt right in Toronto.
Highly recommended — we will definitely be coming back again and again! ✨
We were a group of five and ordered one appetizer, three main dishes, and a dessert to share. For the appetizer, we tried the Hawaoshi — it was good, but nothing too special.
For the main courses, we had the Chicken Tikka, which was absolutely delicious! The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The Masrawy Fusion was another highlight — it reminded us of a shawarma served with fries and rice, and it was very tasty. The Lamb Chops were also good, though the portion of meat was on the smaller side.
We noticed that the portion sizes were quite generous, which makes the dishes great for sharing. The service was attentive and friendly, matching the overall experience. The only thing we were expecting was a bit more Egyptian-style décor to match the restaurant’s theme.
For dessert, we shared the Om Ali, which was unique and different from what we’re used to, but we all really enjoyed it! Overall, it was a flavorful and authentic experience.
If you’re looking for an authentic taste of Cairo, Masrawy Restaurant is a must-visit. The atmosphere is vibrant, but the food is what truly steals the show.
The Highlights:
The Grilled Chicken: Perfectly charred on the outside while remaining incredibly juicy and tender. It’s seasoned to perfection.
Lamb Chops: These were the standout of the night—melt-in-your-mouth tender with a rich, smoky depth.
The Garlic Sauce: Be warned: it’s addictive. It’s the perfect, pungent accompaniment that elevates everything on the plate.
Karkadeh (Hibiscus Tea): The perfect palate cleanser. It’s refreshingly tart, vibrant, and served exactly how it should be.
The Verdict
The quality of the ingredients and the mastery of the grill make Masrawy one of the best spots in the city for Middle Eastern cuisine. Whether you’re a regular or a first-timer, the flavors here never miss.
My friends and I got the iconic chicken fusion shawarma platter that comes with cranberries, carrots on the side with a very yummy garlic sauce on top. This bowl is TOP NOTCH and is the perfect huge plate to buy for a house gathering. Filling and delicious, an upscale osmows/lazeez as my Egyptian best friend would say.
Tried out something new with the Hawaoshi, which is bread stuffed w/ ground beef, onion, peppers, and a blend of spices baked to crispy perfection. Served w/ tahina. Fries on the side. INCREDIBLE. SO CHEWY. like an Arab beef quesadilla. couldn’t get enough.
Chicken kebab with fattoush salad. Chicken was so tender and chewy but the other dishes were so good that we did not even talk about this one LOL.
MUST VISIT Sauga restaurant. Quality is insane and the restaurant itself is such good vibes. We saw legit every culture and race there, so Mississauga and it had a very family vibe to it as the hosts and waiters seemed like they were friends and having a good time, while still professional. Cant say enough good things.
The staff are friendly and accommodating. The food are great and generous serving size.
My only minor comment is the ventilation. The cooking smoke from the kitchen is noticeable in the dining area.
I recommend this place and definitely be back.
This restaursnt has so many vegan options. I am not a vegan however I decided to try some vegan food & was totally satisfied with two vegan dishes I ordered.
Koshary($13) The combination of rice, lentil, chickpeas & pasta & when they were served warm, it was interesting. When all the beans, legumes, pasta were mixed with spiced tomato sauce, dakka (garlic infused vinegar) & hot sauce, it was creating such a unique dishes that I have never tried before.
Mama’s Molekheya($16.50)
This royal mallow leaf green soup might not be for everyone. Texture is slimy. But for me with roasted garlic & fresh ground coriander this soup was very much enjoyable. I could just drink up the soup. Egyptian rice & vermicelli that served with soup was delicious as well.
My friend ordered Arugula Salata ( $16.00) It was served with cranberry, walnut, olive oil, lemon and added grilled chicken($8) Sweet pomegranate molasses dressing & killer grilled chicken made this salad so good and portion size was huge.
I would return to try some more meat dishes.
