Masquerade Food and Drink is a fantasy themed bar and restaurant, think dracula meets ferngully, serving sandwiches, soups, wraps, and salads. The space is also available for events, private or otherwise. For alcoholic drinks we generally serve local beer, cider, and mead (honey wine). We’re here for the weird and delicious

Very friendly and helpful service!
We tried the food too and loved it. It’s a very simple and minimalistic menu but it had exactly what we were looking for. It’s a-la-carte, so you decide what you want and thus caters to omnivores, vegetarians and it looks like vegans should be able to find their groove too.
This place has all the ingredients for a cozy, relaxed night out.
**I want to see this place improve because i love it and the underground, so please know my feedback is from a place of love and desire to see it thrive**
The decor was fantastical and wonderous. The staff was friendly and welcoming. It was pretty warm inside though. I was also hesitant to go in, because the mirrored door made it hard to tell if it was open. I loved the aesthetic, but it feels like a hybrid lounge/cafe/restaurant, with gaming related events without being a gaming store? There isn’t enough food selection for a restaurant, and there’s not enough selection of coffee or tea for a cafe, but there’s also not enough selection for a bar. It really does feel like a lounge, minus the coffee tables and couches. But there’s no gaming related merchandise or official signage for things like magic, Warhammer, or dnd.
If i could provide some constructive feedback:
– leave the door propped open to make it more inviting. May also help with the temperature. The tinting on the windows makes it difficult to tell if it’s open. It’s intimidating from the outside when the door is closed, and having the door open during business hours would make the space more welcoming to passersby
– the music didnt really suit the decor and it was fairly loud. It wouldnt have been too distracting if it were quieter, but changing it to something more ambient or fantasy themed may help dnd players feel more “in the mood”. The decor was perfect for a dnd mood, but the music really made it difficult to get into the mindset of dnd. I would recommend celtic music, or on youtube there are fantasy playlists, or ambient forest sounds. Maybe set up a sign that says it’s okay to ask for the music to be adjusted? Tavern music would be perfect
– having more selection of food and drink would be good. I love pastries but prepackaged snacks would be a fantastic option for gamers (chips, candy bars, etc). Having the drinks written out or on display in a drink case would help to visualize what’s available.
– gather up books for dnd on display with a sign saying they’re allowed to borrow, have a tray of character sheets available. Have a loaner map and wet erase markers available. It doesnt feel like a ttrpg game space (i know its not currently, but staff mentioned they were trying to get into the gaming space where warhammer and mtg were already established). As a gaming space, you want to accomodate when something is needed like extra dice (dice sell VERY well). (To prevent theft, have a signing sheet of who borrowed what and when)
– have some boardgames or alternative cardgames on a shelf for people to be able to borrow during their stay
– set up a non-table seating area like a couch for people to lounge?
– a sign outside to point to the underground. It catches the eye, advertise it as an immersive lounge
– include dnd on a flyer outside. Also maybe leave a flyer at the game store on the corner?
– being named “masquarade” is a little conflicting with the decor and what is offered at the establishment. It feels more like a tavern than masquarade?
