The sushi was excellent and fresh. The service was attentive and jovial. The minimum decor did not lessen the quality of the experience. During our visit, he was honest with customers about speed of roll making – informing potential customers of wait time as he spent real effort making our large order of rolls. I’d recommend grabbing sushi here.

Felt very authentic. Chef and hostess were both extremely nice. I don’t eat sushi, but my wife said it was some of the best she’s ever had. It’s really not very expensive, and we had barely any wait. At the end, they let us put a pin in the map where we are from

I feel bad giving only 1 star to such friendly people but this was a most disappointing sushi dinner. I’m not sure how this place got so many 4 and 5 star reviews. I ordered a shrimp tempura roll, and the shrimp looked a bit gray. It was a fairly skimpy roll. I had to ask for ginger, and it had a funny after taste – almost like rubbing alcohol – definitely not the traditional vinegar. Also, the soy sauce was thick and very strong – not actual soy sauce, it was weird. Apologies to the nice hostess and chef, but I had to set the record straight for other visitors who might be expecting good sushi on an island…

A bit pricey but all the food on the island is insanely priced. BUT WORTH THE MONEY AND THE WAIT. Friendly staff, quiet atmosphere, and we have never had such delicate, soft and fresh sushi. And we are from Vancouver where we tried the best of the best! If you are into sushi, definitely a place to visit and try this delicacy

Still on the hunt for good sushi around here. We really wanted to love this family-owned well-reviewed place. The place was empty, nextdoor to a hopping scene at the brewery. I regret not eating at their food trucks because the wasabi was bad, the rolls did not stay together and were cut horribly. My shrimp roll was covered in a flavorless sauce and tasted bland. The only good thing about this place are the low prices compared to any other japanese place. I feel bad because the owners seem so sweet but it was a let down.

Small place, no restroom. Chef/owner (I think) was very nice, fish tasted fresh but rolls were falling apart. I would not call the rolls anything out of the ordinary. Had to ask for ginger and as someone else mentioned it tasted weird. Tip: You can go to Beer Co. next door and buy beer for your sushi, they’ll even let you borrow a growler 🙂

Wow! Just happened to be staying in the neighborhood and decided to give this place a try. It was so delicious! Just one guy behind the counter serving up some of the tastiest morsels of sushi I’ve ever had. The service was friendly but could bog down a bit. Your patience will be rewarded. Oh and byob.

I went there because of the previous positive reviews. While the people there were nice, the food was far from good; the edamame was undercooked, the sushi rolls were falling apart, and I have never tasted such a bad ginger.
the place was nearly empty when I got there, so they weren’t too busy to try harder.
But the staff was really nice.

Nice authentic Japanese restaurant run by a kind Japanese sushi chef.
Highly recommended for local n tourist, especially some of tourists get ripped off for food that is not even good but this is a legit!!
Don’t forget to ask a growler for bees next to Kauai Beer Company! Bc the restaurant is BYOB.
Lastly Saba (Mackerel) is the best of all island of hawaii.

Masa is the owner and chef. He was very accommodating and served udon even though it’s not offered for dinner. We also had the hamachi sashimi, Sunset roll and Dragon roll. We agreed that it was nothing exceptional.
