After several disappointing visits in the past, I wasn’t planning to return. But the new $5 meal days caught my attention, so I decided to give it another try. I’ve been back a few times since and had consistently decent experiences, the food could taste a bit better, but it’s good overall. With the new add-ons, it’s definitely great value for money, and I’ll be coming back.

I recently tried this place and overall, I’d rate it pretty well. The idli was absolutely perfect — soft, fresh, and full of flavor — easily a 10/10 for me. The Manchuria was good too, about 80% perfect — tasty and well-spiced, just could’ve been a bit crispier.

One thing to note: the food is on the pricier side for the portion size, so keep that in mind if you’re going with a group or family.

Also, I noticed the restaurant mostly had only Indian people dining in. While that’s great for authenticity, I’d personally love to see a more diverse crowd and the place making an effort to reach out to more locals and Americans too — it’s always nice when good food brings different people together.

Overall, tasty food and worth trying, especially if you’re craving solid South Indian dishes!

I ordered talapakati goat biryani its taste like too sour I can’t my friends are completely disappointed moreover we found small iron particle inside the food if we can’t see it we gona hospitalized with this kind of unhygienic food I don’t recommend this place I thought this place gives best food but it’s completely wrong I call to restaurant and say about the situation I didn’t get any response. I quite suprised they don’t care about the situation very very bad.

We had requested food to be catered from here for one of our events for about 65 people. The staff (Aneesh) at Masala Indian Kitchen gave us great recommendations and even gave us free samples to finalize our order. He suggested the right quantity to order to serve our guest size. The food (chicken 65 biriyani, malabar parotta and chicken curry) was loved by all my guests. The quality was excellent even after ordering for a large group.Would highly recommend this place especially for their chicken 65 biriyani and malabar parotta. Aneesh’s recommendations and support was excellent!

I ordered the lamb biryani, chicken tikka masala with butter naan and a mango lassi, and everything was fantastic. The lamb biryani was super flavorful with tender pieces of lamb, the chicken tikka masala was creamy and perfectly spiced, and the mango lassi was the perfect refreshing balance to the meal. Portions were generous, the food came out hot, and the flavors were honestly some of the best I’ve had. Definitely coming back!

Visiting family in Novi, have been to this restaurant a few times but didn’t get to review. This visit was just like the previous ones, great service with a big smile, friendly staff, clean , welcoming. We ordered Onion Rava Masala dosa, Ghee Roast Masala Dosa, Idli & Vada Combo for dining in as well as a Chicken 65 Biryani for take out. The food was delicious, their interpretation of South Indian food is different yet quite tasteful with the right flavours.
The dosas were well prepared, right thickness and crunchy cook, Vada’s were fresh & crispy while the Idlis were soft . Definitely a must visit for South Indian Food.

I used to enjoy dining at Masla, but my last visit completely changed my mind. While eating my Chicken Chilly Dosa (and my 4 year old was eating Naan) I discovered a long, thick hair buried deep inside—almost finishing the meal before noticing. It was absolutely disgusting and ruined the entire experience. I’ve lost my trust in their hygiene standards. Won’t be going back.

Genuine review Order placed on the name of GOPI for new year

We ate the $5 biryani on weekdays, and it was really great—we enjoyed it a lot. For New Year, we ordered a full tray of chicken biryani and requested that it be made the same way. However, the biryani was made using only chicken legs from Costco, with no other chicken pieces at all. There was almost no chicken mixed into the biryani, and the chicken appetizer had no salt and was not spicy. We were really disappointed.

Indian street food restaurants have been up and coming in the past few years, I haven’t really noticed many choices in MI but there are surely many big chains in Chicago, IL, such as Honest Kitchen, Egg and I, great Indian street food that I would like at least once a week. Indian street food is very different from regular Indian food which we are used to in the US and it is not just about the “curry”. It is difficult to describe the difference fairly in a few short sentences because the restaurant offerings, while similar in name and appearance, could be very different in presentation and taste since there are many regions in India and food ethnicities. In other words, people’s opinion will vary, just to be fair.

In my opinion, the offerings here are not as flavorful as the ones in Chicagoland, lack depth. Biryani is one of my favorite dishes because it combines meat, curry and rice perfectly. The Biryani that I tried here is quite bland, spicy but lacking boldness. The other dishes we tried were OK. If you are in the area and there aren’t many choices, this would be an OK alternative. The prices are fairly reasonable.
