I ordered chicken biryani and I got yellow rice with chicken and cashews..and onions. So..it comes close to Indian food but misses the mark in authenticity. The new management keeps the place a lot brighter and cleaner, there is a lot of light inside now and the chairs are big and comfortable at some tables. The table for two is small for two people if they order different dishes. I love the traditional looking umbrellas made in India, possibly from Gujarat or Rajasthan, the decor is quite charming and listening to Indian tunes playing in their TV is relaxing. I wish Indian restaurants in Vermont would bring actual Indian chefs to cook instead it seems some are students working or people who are from South Asian descent but they are not professional chefs so the food is never going to be as good as what you get in India or even in bigger cities like New York, Dallas or Montreal.

After reading several positive reviews, we decided to give this place a try for lunch. However, our experience fell far short of our expectations. One red flag was the lack of available parking, which should have served as a warning sign. Eventually, we managed to find parking on one of the side streets.

The building itself appeared run down, and unfortunately, the interior matched this first impression. The state of the bathrooms was particularly disappointing, as they were unclean and in need of attention.

When it came to ordering, we opted for the lunch buffet, as the server assured us that it offered the same items as the regular menu.

However, the food pans mostly contained curry dishes without any meat. We had to painstakingly search for small pieces of meat among the curries. Furthermore, the curries lacked any heat or spice, which was rather peculiar for an Indian restaurant. We expected more robust flavors.

Despite these disappointments, we did find a silver lining. The naan bread was enjoyable, and the Gulab Jamun dessert was also satisfying. Surprisingly, the saag (which unfortunately didn’t include paneer) was the closest to having any sort of authentic Indian flavor among the curries we sampled. We would not return.

Best Indian food I’ve had in a long time maybe ever. I got my go to of curry chicken with garlic naan. It is amazing! I saved some for breakfast but almost couldn’t resist raiding the fridge in the middle of the night to get a snack. The owners are very nice and they even gave me a free dessert that is delicious. I dont know what it is called but I’d describe it as an Indian spiced rice pudding. I will be eating from here again for sure. Right now they are take out only but I look forward to dining in one day soon once covid is under control.

There are not many restaurants that utilize such quality ingredients, spices, and herbs to create such complex and appetizing choices on the menu. The flavors resemble quality home cooking that is very authentic. My wife and I rave about this family owned corner restaurant to everyone. These people can cook and, yes, service is great too

Masala Elaichi is the BEST Indian cuisine I have ever had. The paneer pakora is fresh, hot, crunchy- very yummy! The yellow rice is delicious and they don’t skimp on whole fresh seasonings. The curry is so flavorful and rich, and the meat is fresh and very high quality. Inside, the restaurant is very cute, and the atmosphere is relaxing! Service was fast, friendly, and welcoming. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. I will be bringing my in laws in to eat here soon as well!

pretty good food, i tried the mango chicken, my wife had the chicken madras. i think the madras was the better choice, but the mango had good flavor too. the garlic naan was excellent.

Food was excellent and well prepared. Good value for plate volume and flavor. I adore Indian Food and have been cooking it and eating it for decades. Just a helpful hint on the hospitality side. We had an off putting end of the meal experience. We were literally kicked out of the restaurant at 9:00 pm on a Sunday evening by the woman owner “manager”. Without any warning the middle aged Indian woman managing the front of the house apparently told our waitress to tell us that that we must leave now!

We we paying customers who spent a good amount of money for about 5 or 6 dishes. Definitely not the way to treat your patrons. I understand cultural differences etc but kicking seated paying customers out right on the bell at 9:00 pm is just plain rude! We were about finished eating but there were several other tables around us that received the same disrespectful treatment. The owners probably don’t care and it won’t effect their business much. The food itself is good but word to the wise it’s not a fine dining establishment. Also we were constantly bombarded by an annoying camera flash of a security camera in the corner of the dining room. I’m not sure what that is all about but definitely annoying as well. I would have given them 5 stars but the sit down dining experience left much to be desired.

I’ve eaten here almost fifty times in two years, and it is on the top of my list for masterful spice work and good prices. I love this place. Takeout and dine-in is .

Skinader ji (propriter) and chef Sonu ji were incredible when it came to putting together a menu within my budget for a 2 day staycation celebration of a major life event with friends. We got plenty of food for 340$+ for 8 adults for 3 meals. They went to the extent of accommodating our request of rotis/chappathis- of course at a price-despite their busy Friday order scheudles. They generously gave us some extra rice and dessert too.

In addition to the wonderful people at the store, the food is lip smackingly good. My Punjabi friend at the event gorged at the Chhole and butter chicken with tears of joy mentioning that it reminded him of food from Delhi. As vegetarians, we enjoy the paneer dishes. The tadka dal that’s easy to do a sloppy job is where their mastery shines- the dal has a balanced flavour with the slightly caramelized garlic complementing the earthy taste of moong lentils that are cooked to perfection. You can tell it’s a good dal when the lentils and water don’t separate and yet the lentils are still individual units.
