Masala Corner in Rutland was exactly the kind of comforting Indian meal we needed after a long ski day. We ordered chaat papdi, paneer butter masala, garlic naan and rotis.
The paneer was the star, clearly house-made and melt-in-the-mouth soft, rich without being heavy. Rotis came out fresh and hot, and everything tasted straight off the stove, warm, soulful, and deeply satisfying.
Special shoutout to Uday for the exceptional service, attentive, warm, and genuinely welcoming. A lovely little gem if you’re craving honest, homestyle Indian food in the area.

My partner and I went in a few days ago. We both really enjoy indian food, so we got what we typically get in our state. We are not from Vermont. The food was very greasy and was not the most flavorful. The sides, the garlic naan and the butter paratha, those were delicious. However, we weren’t impressed by the actual food. He got the chicken masala and I got the lamb saag. I will say that the lamb was very soft. Asides from that, we weren’t impressed. Not to mention, for the serving size we were given it was really pricey. The restaurant was dead and the service was still very slow. We almost walked out after being seated because we waited for quite a bit. It felt a bit awkward. We personally wouldn’t go back if we’re in the area. Much blessings to the business, though! I’m sure it’s someone else’s cup of tea.

One of the few places I have been in Rutland with a modern and inviting atmosphere.
Music, modern lighting, nice set up, a nice aesthetic other than wood paneling and plain chairs like it’s the 1980’s.
The service was not the best, just slow, other than that the food was 11/10, they even have water in glass vases that add a unique touch to the vibe.
The garlic naan is addicting
This is one of the nicest restaurants I have been in Vermont, and the food was easily top 3 indian cuisine foods I have ever tried.

Stopped for take-out dinner after a long ski day on a Monday night. Easily ordered on-line, although I didn’t see a way to specify spice level, and I wish I would have been able to dial it down a bit for my kids. We got the chicken tikka, saag paneer, and gobhi with naan. Everything was good, mid spicy for the adults (too spicy for kiddos), portions were great, and food was hot. When I walked in to pick up, the place was popping with to-go orders. The saag was an emulsified sauce, which was different from our home saag. They did not skimp on the paneer, which we appreciated. Chicken tikka was tough and sauce was sweeter than we are used to.

This was our first visit, and it was fantastic from start to finish! We were seated immediately on Christmas Eve, and they were busy. But our service was attentive without being overbearing, and everything we ordered was delicious! We started out with a chicken appetizer, that was absolutely delicious. Big tender, chicken chunks, with a wonderful sauce with onions and peppers, and a light green dipping sauce. It was wonderful. We had two other chicken dishes that were out of this world, along with garlic rice, and plain basmati rice, and it was all really good. Our waiter asked, after I ordered what was labeled a spicy dish, if I was sure I wanted that because it would be hot. I wanted something spicy so I said sure, but he double checked again that I was OK with a very hot dish, as he said it was too much for many diners. In any event, it was fantastic – hot as hell but really, really good! We will definitely be back, in fact, this may be our new favorite restaurant!

I went here last Saturday for a Caturday Celebration upon finding my new kitten at the nearby Rutland County Humane Society! Masala Corner had absolutely delicious and rich-tasting samosas & refreshing and tasty mango lassis! Their daal could use possibly a bit more depth of flavor, but was still good, and the samosas may be a bit more greasy than some prefer, but I definitely prefer a richer, greasier samosa over a dry one, and the filling flavors, plus the rich pastry of it, were lovely! Their Aloo Gobi is also tasty, lots of good flavor in that cauliflower and potato dish! Esp the potatoes! Only 4 instead of 5 stars on the food because I’ve definitely had Indian food with more complex and deeper flavor, and it could have used more heat/spice, but I also lived outside DC for over a decade, which is one of the International hubs of the country and has endless options for Indian and other international cuisines. For Vermont, and esp for Vermont outside the Champlain Valley, this place does solid Indian food, and it’s certainly popular among the locals! I went in around 1:30 PM and left around 2:15, and at around 2 the place was HOPPING with folx picking up orders! And for that time of day, that must mean they do amazing business during main lunch and dinner times! Im not surprised as the last thing, and most stand out thing, that I need to mention is their service, which was outstanding! Due to my medical needs I need to eat at certain times of day, and when I called them about 15 minutes before the end of my window of time for food in a bit in a tizzy cause I might be late, the woman on the phone was super accommodating, kind, friendly, reassuring, and helpful! She was especially helpful in guiding me through the menu to find the dishes that I could eat with my food restrictions, which includes having a severe onion intolerance! Not all Indian places, esp not all Northern Indian places, can accommodate an onion restrictive diet, but Masala has a surprisingly wide selection of vegetarian (I’m also vegetarian, which can sometimes be difficult, too!), onion free dishes! Or at least dishes that CAN be made without onions! Which frankly, that could very well have been the issue with the daal, they may very well have made me a special version without onions, which is probable, and maybe just couldn’t adjust the flavoring on such short notice, so I think I’ll go back and give them 5 stars on food actually. The fact that they accommodated such an unusual allergy so quickly, within 15 minutes of me ordering, and that the food, esp the Aloo Gobi & Samosas, were so good, and I’m sure the daal is normally more flavorful when they can use onions, I’d say 5 stars all around are appropriate! Also, I dined in, and the wait staff was also lovely: the gentleman who helped/served me was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating! The space was also clean, attractive, and a positive atmosphere abounded, lovely Indian music softly playing in the background, and though the front entrance was not wheelchair accessible, I think there was a side entrance perhaps without stairs, and the chairs were VERY sturdy and had no arms, which is helpful for me and those of us in the plus size community who sometimes struggle to find seating when out and about. The seating was super accessible, which is another big reason for the 5 stars! Parking may be difficult on busy days though, only street parking from what I saw, and being on a corner, no parking directly in front of the restaurant on either side due to making way for traffic at the intersection. But I was able to find and park in the closest spot to the restaurant after one trip around the block the weekend before Christmas, so not bad! (I’ve got disabilities including mobility issues, so parking close to my destination is important!). 5 stars! Thanks so much for a lovely celebratory meal after I met the kitten I will be taking home next month from the Rutland Humane Society down the road! And I went on a Saturday! A true Caturday Celebration! Thank you, Masala Corner Indian Restaurant!

What an incredible surprise to find authentic, delicious Indian cuisine in downtown Rutland. I recently relocated from a tropical city with diverse cuisine and was so happy to spot this restaurant driving down Merchants Row. I was delightfully surprised at the quality of the food and service! The restaurant is in an elegant Rutland building with high ceilings, the peak sky windows above the rear half of the restaurant. Parking was a breeze at Walmart Plaza and crossing light to Masala Corner.
The chef is incredible, flavors rich with true Indian seasonings, as she makes all dishes from scratch and made to order. Multiple spice levels can be accommodated for most dishes.
Nervous to try Indian food for the first time? No problem! They are launching a lunch buffet soon. Better yet, go with a few friends and order family style. Everyone tries everything!
This is sure to be one of my favorite places for lunch and dinner. Easy take out for local businesses, large or individual orders, for lunch or to feed the family for dinner.
I am vegan and found many options to choose from. My friends don’t have any dietary restrictions and they had the most difficult time choosing what to order. Hahahahah.
I really love this place. Went with a couple women friends and we all got different apps, entrees and even desert!
** After reading a review below about a woman who has a severe tree nut allergy… I had to make an edit to my review.
We are adults. If you have a dietary restriction or ALLERGIES it is YOUR (I want to yell here) responsibility to communicate with the staff. Then the staff can communicate if accommodations or recommendations can be made. Providing a 2 star rating because a grown adult wants to have people read her mind or disclose the actual recipe on every food item is wild to me. She must not eat out much.

The food here was so good — it genuinely felt like eating at home, the kind of warmth and flavor only mom’s cooking has. We ordered chana masala, aloo gobhi, and samosas, and everything was fresh, perfectly spiced, and full of authentic flavor. They even made chapatis for us on request (not even on the menu!) — that gesture alone shows how much they care.
The owner came out to greet us and was incredibly sweet and welcoming. To top it off, they surprised us with delicious gulab jamun at the end. ❤️
If you’re looking for real, home-style Indian food and genuine hospitality, this place is a must-visit!

I have been a customer of the Dholakia family for several years and when they were a just take out place in the gas station in Weston. We are so thrilled about their sit down restaurant in Rutland. The food is always spot on and the menu is always changing for the season and based on the cultural celebrations of their family. The prices are reasonable and there is something for everyone on the menu- vegetarian, fresh baked gf naan, dairy free and it’s all delicious. Our favorite dishes are butter chicken , biryani chicken, saffron rice, paleo paneer, the cauliflower and potato side dish, and the samosas! We make it a point to try something new each time we go and have never been disappointed. The family presence is strong in this business and what a pleasure to see the next generation learning and involved. I always look forward to seeing and catching up with them when I wait for my takeout order. You won’t be disappointed with dinner to go or dine in. We drive almost an hour to get our takeout.
