The SBH Review: Popular Masa Luna brings creative Mexican, and …
Reviews
Let’s talk food: the pierogies were buttery little pillows of joy, like someone wrapped comfort food in a love letter. The salsa with queso? A spicy, melty masterpiece that had us double-dipping with zero shame. Shrimp taco was so light and hit the spot as we were not starving on this first visit. Tamales? We didn’t even get to them yet and we were already emotionally invested.
Now the drinks. Oh, the drinks. That espresso martini came in—bold, brash, and ready to ruin your sleep schedule. The daiquiri? Tropical, flirty, and deceptively strong. Not even close to classic. We were one sip away from calling an Uber and confessing our secrets to the bartender.
The vibe? Think cozy meets cool. Masa Luna feels like your artsy friend’s living room—if that friend also moonlights as a mixologist and knows how to throw a dinner party with pierogies and tamales on the same plate.
Final verdict: Come hungry, come thirsty, and maybe leave your car at home. Masa Luna is here to feed your soul and test your tolerance.
Can’t wait to enjoy Masa Luna again with some buddies.
If you’re looking for a spot on 13th Street in Omaha that knows how to do cocktails and Mexican food right, Masa Luna is the place. The Paloma and margaritas were an excellent start to the nightbright, balanced, and refreshing. The habanero Paloma, in particular, was a standout: a little kick, but smooth and well-balanced so the spice never overpowered the drink.
The food didn’t disappoint either. The blue corn quesadillas were fantastic rich, cheesy, and packed with flavor. But the appetizer that stole the show was the chorizo pierogis. Absolutely to die for. Unique, hearty, and something you won’t find anywhere else.
Their salsas deserve a shoutout too. Fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The queso was creamy and delicious, especially when mixed with the Mama sauce and spiced salsa, which added layers of flavor without being overwhelming. All of this paired perfectly with their house-made chips, which were crisp and addictive.
The street tacos were another win well-balanced with great flavor. And the enchiladas? Killer. Instead of the traditional rolled style, they had more of a flat, lasagna-like presentation. It was a bold take, and it worked beautifully rich, layered, and absolutely delicious.
Masa Luna feels like a spot where the experience matters, from the cocktails to the salsas to the way they reimagine classics. Definitely worth a visit for well balanced and flavorful food!
