I needed to update this review, unfortunately. Placed an online order 40 minutes ahead of scheduled pickup for a medium pizza and breadsticks. It was not ready at the scheduled time and took nearly 20 extra minutes to be ready. Turned out to be a small pizza, but I couldn’t wait any longer to remedy that mistake. The service has to get better. I got a text about an hour later letting me know my order was ready. Whatever “system” they have now is not working.
Previous review: Love Mary’s, but it can be a little hit or miss with the service. Sometimes everything is served timely and hot, and sometimes there’s an apparent disconnect between the kitchen and the servers. I wish it was more consistent because it really is a great place with great food, and when it’s on, it’s really awesome!

It was my first ever visit to the McDowell Blvd Mary’s Pizza Shack (MPS) in Petaluma. But I have been a long time customer for nearly 25 years. I dropped by for an early Sunday dinner. The pizza and Mary’s signature salad was delicious. The atmosphere was family friendly and inviting.
We ordered a pepperoni pizza on classic crust. It was baked to a perfect doneness. It had a bit of blistering but not burnt. They use 100% mozzarella and their home made pizza sauce is sooo good. The Mary’s signature salad is my favorite menu item. It did not disappoint. That with the Sonoma Italian dressing is delicious. We even were served complimentary warm bread with butter. Our server was terrific.
The odd thing was that to get to the restroom, you have to walk in front of the bar and navigate through the tables in the bar area and avoid getting ran into from the servers coming out of the galley walkway. I was bumped into by a server (she was not carrying any items). I was given no apology, she bumped and ran. That happened at the end of my meal. So by then, I was a happy camper. Tummy full of pizza and salad. If it happened earlier, I might have turned into a grump.

I have to say I am totally disappointed! We lived here for 38 years and absolutely loved Mary’s pizza so of course when we come to town (from Idaho) we get Mary’s…..today we ordered and picked it up only to get back to our hotel room and open the pizza box and breadsticks and they are completely burnt and hard! $63 for a pizza, salad and breadsticks and it’s just not what we were hoping for. Very disappointing!

We have been Mary’s fans for years and happy that they opened the Petaluma East side location closer to us. We were a little worried that the quality of the food would not be the same from the original Mary’s downtown. We are pleasantly surprised that the food is not only good but great. We like sitting at the high rounds in the bar area. Jen does a great job serving the tables from bar. They have great wine selections from local wineries. Their salads are great and almost meals for them self. Our favorite is their Ceasar salad. Also one of our menu favorites is the Mary’s Lasagna. They also have a good selection of other pasta dishes. Their pizza’s are excellent. They have a take out desk in the bar in case you wanted to carry out. We like to get their ranch dressing to go as it is much better than any store bought ranch. It is a great spot for an early dinner between 4-6 and take advantage of their happy hour.

For all those people who enjoy Italian-American comfort food, like a meatball sandwich in a spacious family-friendly restaurant this Mary’s location is the spot. The service was excellent and the food delicious. I had the roasted tomato soup with my sandwich. The soup was yummy, especially on a chilly day. This Petaluma location gets busy. So there might be a slight delay. But the staff is helpful and works to make everyone welcome. I’d like to go back for happy hour and enjoy one of the many cocktails offered. Plenty of parking.

6/20: oh my god. The soup tasted like someone dumped a vat of salt in it. I’m sad because I love Mary’s but OH MY GOD.

We used to go to this location all the time but we have been really disappointed with our last few experiences. We placed an order for takeout to be picked up at a specific time. My husband went to pick up the order and was given only part of the order (bread sticks). After reminding them that there was also pizza to go with the order they had home sit for another 20 minutes only to give him the wrong size pizza cut up so strangely. We really enjoyed taking our family there but it seems that it is just isn’t the same.

On 9/3 I had a take out order and I choked on a “foreign object” a stick that I choked on found in your food. I talked with your supervisor Rachael who had me on hold for 20 mins about to talk with the manager who apparently was on a delivery the entire time but had me wait for nothing. No call back the next day from the manager. Terrible customer service no care for your customers at all. I reached out to higher up and was talked to on 9/5 still no offer to be refunded and still no call back from anyone as of today 9/15 just being ignored. I am currently looking for an attorney as I gave you enough time to respond and you don’t want to make a report and think I’m gonna let this go. This is very unprofessional you don’t let a customer choke on something found in your food and just ignore them.

Since the newer Mary’s has opened in the Friedman’s shopping center, I’ve found that this is fast becoming my favorite ‘Go To’ place. Great parking, ambience, service, and (always) a very friendly staff. Casual dining, with a healthy variety of menu options guarantee that there’s something for everyone. My favorite (believe it or not not); Mary’s dinner salad with bleu cheese dressing. To be fair, I’ve really liked everything else I’ve had – I just ‘love’ that salad & dressing ☺
