We ordered the fried catfish basket and fried catfish dinner upon receiving our meal the cat fish was way undercooked. Parts of the fish was still clear and breading was mushy. Even the fries were cold and squishy like the grease wasn’t hot enough that they were fried in. We let our waitress know and she didn’t offer new fish or a discount. We did let the lady know that checked us out and she did give a 10% discount. We drove pretty good distance to eat here. Very displeased.

What a great, small town diner. Felt right at home and the waitress was very nice. The food was excellent and much needed when on a roadtrip. Well worth diverging from the trail to find this gem. Will come back again!

I had a lovely time eating here. I live out of town, so I ate here while I was waiting for my next class at the local college to start. The service I received was absolutely wonderful, and every server I spoke to was kind, respectful, and obviously enjoyed their job. A couple regulars(I assume) walked in and were greeted with a nice, “Hello, [name]!” I was also greeted nicely when I walked in. It’s a seat yourself establishment, and your server will bring a menu and silverware. I had a BLT with an over medium egg with a side of cottage cheese, and it was absolutely delicious. The egg was cooked perfectly, and the meal itself was amazing. I also had a sweet tea, which was sweetened to southern perfection. The gentleman who served me was nothing but kind and respectful as he checked on me, and he was not overbearing as some establishments can be. It was nice and cozy inside, and had a very quaint atmosphere. I had a strawberry ice cream when I was finished with my meal, and it tasted very good! I highly recommend this place to eat, whether it be breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, or desert! I had a lovely time and I cannot wait to come eat here again!

Awesome little downtown diner in Tonkawa Oklahoma. Passing through and saw the great reviews and have it a try.
A lot of small town locals chatting it up, very friendly.
The food portions a huge and very delicious.
Worth a short detour if you’re in the area.

I was in town teaching for several days at NOC. I stumbled onto Mary’s Grill. I was impressed #1 with the best food ever!! I ended up eating every meal there for the 4 days I was in town. All the servers were so friendly and helpful even remembering what I ordered the first day for breakfast. Kudo’s to the cook. It truly was the best breakfast I’ve ever had out, cooked perfectly and I travel all over the country. It is very clear that the people involved with Mary’s are serious about showing people they care. The atmosphere is awesome. Pat each other on the back. You are the best and I hope I get to come back. Oh and by the way the fees are more than reasonable…twice as low as most restaurants I visit and everything so much better! (:

Really thoughtful and friendly waitress. She kept checking in on us, to make sure everything was okay. The grilled veggies were delicious and the best thing on the plate… but everything else was also delicious too. Quality food. Great value. Huge portions!

If you find yourself passing thru Tonkawa, make Mary’s Grill a top stop. With incredible food, genuinely welcoming staff, and generous portions, it doesn’t just serve meals; it nourishes the soul.
Madison was amazing, we both had the Breakfast Combo. With a side of Grits, and when I say everything passed the bar, it’s the understatement of the year. We had to stop the drooling mid-bite and every couple bites brought out a moan of a country boy missing this type of food while traveling… if we could clone a diner and have across the globe of southern cooking and hospitality, this would get my vote everytime

Delicious food and very generous portions. Big variety of potato options, and everything was well cooked. The open faced rusty beef sandwich is my favorite meal, but hubby likes the chicken tidbits. Service is friendly but a bit laid back, best to tell them if you’re in a hurry.
My son scarfed down his burger before I could get a picture, and the only critique he offered was that he wished there were sesame seeds on the bun

Establishment was clean and felt homey like a small town restaurant. Staff was friendly and attentive enough. My son had the popcorn chicken and waffle fries. I thought the popcorn chicken tasted kinda funny but he had no complaints. My daughter had the chicken sandwich and it was huge! She ate most of it though she had to revert to a knife and fork because it was too big to eat like a normal sandwich. I had the steak sandwich, the flavor was good but the meat was a little too stringy so one bite became a struggle. Overall the food was alright, nothing I would rush back to have again. It was $40+ for the three of us which I feel is a little steep but food prices are going up everywhere.
