513 Fence
When 513 Fence is out installing fence, we try to find quick easy places to eat. We were in Blue Ash installing an aluminum fence, and stopped in for a quick bite to eat. 513 Fence highly recommends Marx Bagels Blue Ash. Everything we ordered was great!

I’m a native New Yorker living just outside of Cincinnati, and as anyone in my shoes knows, getting good bagels and pizza outside what was once “home” is a challenge. Most of the bagel places around here are just corporate chains, and while they’ll do in a pinch, there’s literally nothing special about them. It wasn’t until I had an insatiable craving for a good salt bagel that I wound up doing some deeper research and poking around, and I stumbled upon Marx Bagels on Kenwood Rd in Blue Ash.
Itch scratched!
A legit bagel store with a variety and quality you’ll never find in the chains. A clean operation and they haven’t disappointed me yet! I come from across town (Butler County) to get my fix on! Please never go out of business!!!
EDIT 3/26/2025:
OK. The first step in solving a problem is to admit that there one in the first place, right?
I admit it, then. ‘ .
They don’t let me put a six-star review, so i have to stick with five, but I guess in concept, it’s a good problem to have.
My issue (if you could really call it that) is that I wind up in Bagels Anonymous meetings at least once a week.

I grew up in Cincinnati and recently returned for the weekend. My wife knows how important “The Bagel Shop” is to me. In the 80’s they were located on Reading Road near Amberly and I would ride my bike to The Valley Shopping mall for two egg and cheese on an onion bagel. As I got older it was a tuna melt on sesame. The owner his children, everyone was involved and their family knew our families. I’m sure it’s similar today. Bagels taste the same—and that’s a good thing!

I’ve been coming to Marx Bagels in Blue Ash with my family for years, we simply love their bagels! Yesterday one of my bagels was accidentally left out of my order. I couldn’t make it back that day, but when I came in today with my receipt and explained what happened, they immediately made it right. No questions, no pushback — and they were more than fair in how they handled it.
That kind of customer service really stands out. Mistakes happen anywhere, it’s how a place responds that matters, and they handled it with professionalism and generosity.
I am very appreciative of this experience and it serves as a good reminder to support local shops.

Overall not a great experience. I ordered a dozen bagels online for pickup. When I went to pickup, two of the items were marked “none”. Knowing this meant they were out, I asked for replacements. They gave me only 2 of the 5 bagels missing. They did not bother to look at the order receipt to confirm the quantities requested.
When I got home, I later discovered that one of the bagels had been baked with a sliver of steel wool in it… I know they use steel wool to clean their countertops, but good lord. At least do a quality checks and confirm your countertops are clear before preparing food.

overall, pretty positive! the food was yummy. staff looked very stressed and i felt bad having to ask them for the things i ordered, for example a water cup. also the person who handed me the sandwich seemed judgey of my order but tbh fair enough. super cute indoors!! a bit pricey for me personally but def recommend you stop in at least once to try it out 🙂

What a hidden gem. Went heat for the first time after driving by it for almost 10 years. I have been missing some of the best, if not, the best bagels in town. There bagels were fresh and their cream cheese options were fantastic.
I ordered a Smoked Salmon and cream cheese Everything bagel and it was outstanding. The salmon is already mixed with the home made cream cheese and it was delicious. Definitely making this a place to stop by regularly. Strawberry cream cheese and peanut butter and chocolate chip cream cheese were also great!

Been to many bagel places around the US, never experienced anything quite like this. Bagels tasted a few days old and were hard / dry. If that was the objective or taste they are striving for, mission accomplished. Definitely will not return.

As I sat there enjoying my fresh bagel from Marx Bagels, I couldn’t help but wonder – what is happening to me?! Will I ever love the food in my hometown again? Maybe not.
As a self-proclaimed bagel (and coffee) pro, I can confidently say that Marx Bagels in Cincinnati is a top-notch bagel shop that should not be missed by any locals or travelers.
They offer all of the classic varieties – plain, sesame, poppy seed – that any bagel aficionado would expect, but they also have unique options that I’ve never seen back home.
The bagels themselves are simply delicious. They are chewy and dense, with just the right amount of crust on the outside.
They are also large! And they give you a ton of shmear as well! I mean a massive amount. If that is not your thing, I am sure they will tone it down for you.
Overall, I highly recommend checking out Marx Bagels if you’re in Cincinnati. As a bagel (and coffee) pro, I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed.
