Quick, delicious, and seriously impressive. This cafeteria-style tempura and udon spot delivers some of the freshest noodles I’ve had, with incredibly flavorful broths and curry. The tempura is hands down the best I’ve tried. It’s light, crispy, and perfectly cooked. It’s fast without feeling rushed, which makes it perfect for a quick bite that still feels satisfying. I’ve already been back a few times and will definitely keep coming back!

Took my Mommy Dearest to Chinatown to get her hair and nails done. After that she wanted to have Udon noodles. And I remembered Muragame Udon is nearby and since I haven’t ventured out to at this location before.

I had the number 1 Nikutama and Mommy Dearest had the number 3 Beef with dashi broth and of course some tempura goodness on the side.

The portion size is filling and the flavor was spot on. Perfectly balanced broth and not overpowering. The noodles have a great bounce to it. The restaurant is busy but luckily for us we went after the lunch rush so we didn’t have to wait much. Mommy Dearest commented how she remembered the lines is always a mile long and out the door at the Waikiki location. This was when she worked in Waikiki. The Downtown location is clean and organized and the staff are wonderful.

Can’t wait to go back soon. Only thing sucks is the parking.

We went to Marugame twice on this trip.
Best qualify udon and broth.
Loved assortment of tempura.
This location had lunch special under $10 for small udon with one tempura.
Very busy but efficiently running.
Can’t wait to go back!

The udon here is incredibly fresh and delicious — perfectly chewy and flavorful. The fried chicken is super crispy and juicy, definitely a must-try! The service is quick, and even though the line can get long, it moves fast. Great food, great value, and always satisfying! ✨

Wow! An institution for a reason. Almost like fast food but healthier and even cheaper. Made fresh to order. Incredible noodles and a great selection of fried goodies as you make your way to the register. Love the concept, would be a regular if I was local.

Can’t believe this location exists while the Muragame in Waikīkī has a line out the door constantly! Absolutely delicious, fresh, bouncy udon noodles and really enjoyed the selection at the self-serve tempura bar. Highly recommend!

It’s the same ridiculously great udon and Ala carte tempura add ons as the Kuhio street restaurant minus the INSANE lines and the nonexistent parking in the heart of Waikiki. We got here at 6pm about an hour before closing and although not all the tempura offerings were on display you can order them and they’ll make it them and there. The staff was very friendly (probably because it wasn’t very busy) and the service was quick – three minutes from walking in to sitting down with food. Ordered the BK udon with shrimp tempura, soft boiled eggs, tempura tamagoyaki, and zucchini. With drinks and tip around $20/person.

Totally positive experience. Kudos Marugame Udon!! We’ll be back!

Udon here is very good. However I was charged $14 for “free” parking because the staff did not validate my car as they claimed. The automated garage requires swiping one’s credit card to enter. There is no tickets, no kiosk to pay or verify. The garage gate automatically opens while exiting so there is absolutely no confirmation if the restaurant validated your parking. Now two weeks later, I see a $14 charge on my statement. Not cool… 🙁

#2 creamy broth is pretty bad and below average.. Definitely not the must try level.

Broth is pretty much plain taste and only comes with 3 very thin slices of chashu even for large size. Majority are just the Udon.

The Udon itself tastes good and fried chicken side is good.

Whatever you do don’t get their tan tan everything else is good but that udon is horrible and not worth the price. I hope they take it off the menu, to describe it: warm gochujang water with veggies.
