West Tennessee’s legendary whole-hog BBQ tradition is the cornerstone of Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint. Pat Martin learned the art and craft of West Tennessee-style smoke and meat 25 years ago in the tiny town of Henderson, TN before making Nashville his home. It became a consuming passion that eventually led to a business when he opened the first Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint in October of 2006 in Nolensville, Tennessee – just south of Nashville. We come in at 5 am, every day, seven days a week. From the sides to the sauces, everything is made from scratch every single day – You’ll never find a freezer or microwave in our kitchens. But the bar-b-que actually starts a day ahead, as the process for smoking whole hogs simply can’t be rushed.
Big roadhouse-style eatery known for its whole-hog pit-fired BBQ, with chicken, tacos & burgers.

Brisket- we forgot to order extra moist so it was dried.
Ribs – flavorful but on the salty side, and on the dried side.
Pulled pork – was alright. soft and tender
Sides:
Mac N cheese- not bad
Baked beans – ok
Green beans – it was good so I thought it was homemade. Then I noticed the cans at the front entrance on our way out.
Desserts:
Pecan pie – delicious. Not overly sweet like all other Pecan pies I have tried.
Brownie cake – dried and chewy. Not recommended.
The pulled pork we took home because we ordered too much.
We got the ribs – half dry, half wet – and the jalapeno cheddar sausage as mains. The dry rub ribs weren’t very good, but the sauced ones were. They also gave us a few more ribs than we ordered. The sausage was great – nice ratio of the jalapenos and cheddar within each link.
As far as the sides go, the mac n cheese was outstanding. The hush puppies were good too; they’re a great addition to a BBQ place’s menu.
Staff were friendly. Not too busy on a Saturday night.
As for the brisket, while it was good, I’ve had much better in Chicago.
We dined at one of their locations that had ample parking and a peaceful atmosphere. The interior isn’t fancy—more of an old-school setup with simple wood and metal tables and chairs.
The staff were friendly and welcoming. Overall, highly recommended.
Tons of seating available in the joint, you line up to place your order, take your seat and the food is brought to you. Place also had cheap beers too which was nice. The house BBQ sauce is delicious but is a bit runny. One of the guys in our group liked it so much he got a bottle to take home.
Liked the broccoli. We also got the pecan pie and the fudge pie. We devoured our meal and there was plenty of seating. This spot is in more of a residential area so less touristy.
