I don’t know how many times I’ve been there. I could have breakfast at Marmalade every weekend!! I hope they never compromise on quality. Everything is so carefully prepared, fresh, and delicious. The staff are so polite, sweet, and attentive. We are lucky to have discovered such a place in St. Albans.

Really nice breakfast & coffee. We were able to get a table quite quickly, it was a 25 minute wait but there’s plenty to look at nearby so it was fine for us. The staff were really friendly & quick service. Breakfast was delicious, highly recommend the French toast with the orange mascarpone. Highly recommend visiting this cute little cafe too 🙂

Marmalade on Holywell Hill is a stylish French-inspired cafe with a relaxed, grown-up vibe – perfect for a peaceful brunch date or catch-up with friends. The food is outstanding: creative dishes using top-quality ingredients, beautifully presented and full of flavour. My saucisson eggs benedict (poached eggs, saucisson sec, creamy hollandaise with herbs and truffle hints on toasted sourdough) was absolutely delicious – rich, perfectly cooked, and a real treat.
Coffee is speciality-level excellent, service friendly and attentive, and the location right near the Cathedral is lovely.
For families: Children are welcome, but there’s no separate kids’ menu or simpler children’s options, and the atmosphere is aimed more at a maturer crowd (think cosy and calm rather than lively and chaotic). No high chairs mentioned, so best saved for adult outings or older kids who enjoy more sophisticated plates.
If you’re after elevated brunch without the family hustle, this is a winner. Highly recommend!

Went for brunch with my mum and I have to say we really had the best time. The staff were so friendly and lovely. We were served by Scar H who was super kind and accommodating with my mums intolerance’s. The food was delicious- I recommend the French toast with blueberries :))

The food was incredible, loved the complimentary fruit at the start. The coffee was made very well.
The English breakfast was superb, the sausages and hash brown was a delight.
