Went in on a cold winter day. The restaurant was very warm. It has a huge menu. We could be seated right away and the service was quick and friendly! My chicken wrap was a bit smaller than other restaurants but tasted good. The side salad and fries left a bit to be desired. The pizza was great!! Definitely a hit. The restaurant could use an upgrade but it didn’t affect my visit. I’d go again.

Absolutely delicious! You must try the breakfast skillet or the breakfast croissant. So good! We also got a pizza to take home and my husband loved the strawberry crapes (I don’t like fruit so I didn’t try it). Marlena is super sweet and so was our server. The food came out super quick too. We love that they serve breakfast all day.

As a New Yorker, finding a good Pizza is a challenge. Marlena’s Pizza was delicious. Thin, yet slightly gooey dough with a rustic taste in the Crust and a great undercarriage. The sauce had a slight tangy / sweet taste, well seasoned and really good. Well Done! I’ll Be Back!

Our server was very good but the food was bad. The wet burrito tasted like dirty dish water and the cheese on the chips and cheese was bad the smell and taste was like rotten cheese when I let the owner know she said it was cheddar. Cheddar should never taste like that. The steak was ground something.

Won’t come back. Waitress had orders wrong. Took 45 min to get food. When I did get it. It was cold. They put a slice of cheese on my scrambled eggs. Weird. Menu seemed awesome. Lots of variety. But they need young waitresses that can remember and keep up maybe. Idk. Has potential Also forgot to mention the hair that I found in my pancake that I immediately gave back to the waitress. If I were you I would not come here

Food – About what I’d expect from a smaller diner. Enjoyable if you have appropriate expectations.
Service – Marlena is a fantastic, friendly woman who cares about running her business well.
Pricing – Fair for the quality and portion size.
Overall – I recommend giving the restaurant a try. I’ve only visited a couple times, but they’ve been enjoyable, given I wasn’t expecting Michelin star food (which some reviews would lead you to believe you’re getting, and others critically complain that it’s not).
Given the right circumstances, I’d gladly visit again. Granted, there is a lot of competition in Holland for the type of food served. However, if you’re looking for a small business, friendly/family owned, no frills type of restaurant, you won’t go wrong with Marlena’s.
Given the nature of numerous previous reviews, mostly politically biased, I would take the overall rating of the restaurant with a grain of salt.
If you’ve not been, give Marlena’s a fair chance, and maybe consider leaving the politics at the door.

Marlena’s is a good place to eat. I’ve never had a bad meal and her prices are reasonable. We go there for breakfast or lunch depending what we are going to Holland for (church, visiting, etc.) We average at least once a month and are always satisfied. And we LOVE Marlena as a person and are proud of her consistent stand for American values.

I enjoy eating at Marlena’s in Holland. She serves some of the best food in Holland and the portions are great for the cost. The whole staff makes you feel welcome from the time you enter till you leave. Your bigger chain restaurants don’t. Your just another dollar to them not a customer. Service is great. If you’ve never eaten there I recommend you do you’ll not leave disappointed.

I haven’t been to Marlena’s in a while, so this review is based on my experiences a few years back. The service was great, as was the hometown diner atmosphere. The food wasn’t my favorite, but it wasn’t bad either so overall a decent experience.
