Bustling Chinese restaurant specializes in Cantonese cuisine, Peking duck & Hong Kong-style dim sum.

Food from what we ate was good. Enjoyed the veggies and the walnut shrimp dish. There’s a somewhat random-feeling assortment of dim sum at the front of the restaurant (close enough to the door that it’s cold in the area, so you know the food there is also cold and stale). We did not take any from there, although as we took a look, the staff told us we can order from the menu for fresh ones. Makes you wonder why that assortment is out in the first place then.
The service is not attentive, which is standard for a Chinese restaurant, tbh
The atmosphere is lacking; too-bright fluorescent-style lighting with limited decor. The space feels like it’s half under renovation or something.

Mark’s Duck House has been serving great Cantonese cuisine for decades.
No frills atmosphere. The food is outstanding.
When we went, the restaurant was packed though we didn’t have to wait for a table.
Enjoy!

Long time locals favorite for dimsum and Chinese BBQ as well as peking duck. Large generous portions and friendly staff. The black bean with clams are a favorite

This is the BEST Dim Sum place in the DMV area we visited this place every other Saturday. Family owned and operated great authentic Dim Sum experience tasteful and a variety of offerings We absolutely love this place we recently moved from the area and have not found yet a Dim Sum place. Looking forward to come back. This place gets a lot of traffic particularly on Dim Sum days Saturday and Sunday. Friendly personel all were amazing to us can recall Elvis he took care of us the first time we visited did for the three years we lived in the area and John if not mistaken he is the owner and his beautiful family ,wife and daughter all working together to provide a great dining experience to their customers. The staff was the same from first visit to our latest that says a lot about the management and happy employees take great care of the customers. Big hug to all at Mark Duck House we can’t wait to visit again. Highly recommend.

Mark’s Duck House is the kind of hole-in-the-wall that makes you want to call Guy Fieri and beg him to feature it on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. From the outside, it looks unassuming — but inside, it’s pure magic. This is Hong Kong dim sum done right, and once you know about it, you’ll wonder why you didn’t come sooner.
The steamed oyster is our must-order every single visit. And when I say oyster, I mean massive — over 12 inches of briny, buttery perfection, steamed with ginger, scallions, and just a drizzle of soy. One bite and you’ll swear you’ve ascended.
Dim sum here is hand-made, fresh, and authentic. The har gow have that perfect translucent wrapper, the shrimp & crab balls are light yet decadent, and the octopus with black pepper delivers just the right punch. Snow pea leaves sautéed with garlic are a masterclass in simplicity, and the crispy sea bass? So good it left us joking that mama needed to be slapped. (Apologies to mama.)
What I love most is how unpretentious it all is. No gimmicks, no shortcuts — just classic dishes done exceptionally well. This is the kind of place that reminds you what dim sum is supposed to taste like.
Pro tip: Come on weekends between 10 AM and 1 PM when the carts are rolling. It’s busy — yes, you’ll wait — but the energy, the variety, and the sheer joy of watching those carts circle the room makes it 100% worth it.
Do not judge by its cover. This is the real deal, and I hope Mark’s Duck House stays in business forever.

We have enjoyed dining here on several occasions. While it may not be the best Cantonese-style cuisine we’ve encountered, we have consistently found it to be a satisfying experience. During our most recent visit for dim sum, we were pleased to see that each dish was freshly prepared and served warm, and the staff was prompt in bringing out the food. We have had varied experiences at other dim sum establishments, where service could be improved, and food was sometimes served cold. Overall, our experience here has been quite positive.

Roasted duck is phenomenal. Fresh, tender, and juicy. The pan fried wide rice noodles w/beef is heavenly, perfectly woked and the taste of the flames stays in the mouth from the very first bite!

12/31/24 New Year’s Eve with family and our first time at Mark’s Duck House in Annandale Va. my family and I love Chinese food and we traveled 1 hour 15 minutes in pouring rain on New Years Eve to try this restaurant it was GREAT did not disappoint!
Not a glamour place set in a small shopping center but very clean to start off with. We were seated by friendly gentleman even though we were early for our reservation and given a large table like we asked for because we wanted to try lots of dishes. Not a problem.
Our waiter, Kenny was wonderful he explained different dim sum options to my sons and was always cheerful and attentive.
The appetizers fried wontons, hot and sour soup and shrimp balls and fried dumplings were perfectly. Not blah pot stickers.
When the main courses arrived we’re talking large, very large portions!
Not complaining loved it.
Hands down the best Peking Duck we ever had, large portion, tender and flavorful and we have tried several local Va. restaurants.
Large pieces of chicken in a nicely sweet sweet and sour sauce with pineapples.
The beef and vegetable dish had large pieces of tender beef along with lots of veggies and pineapples in a tangy sauce.
My fav was the eggplant although it wasn’t on the menu as such I asked for eggplant in garlic sauce not spicey (not fried) huge plate came and I shared although I didn’t want to!
Fried rice with chicken was hit as well and did I mention Saki and hot tea went along with dinner as well.
This place was fantastic from our greeting at entry to our waiter to the exceptional food we will be back. People if you are looking for great Chinese food give Mark’s Duck House a try I promise you will be back.
And if that doesn’t temp your taste buds theirs a reason the locals filled the restaurant on New Years Eve.
Thanks for a great start to 2025 to everyone who made our family event perfect.

I’ve been to this place more than a dozen times since moving to the east coast, and it is always top notch. Everyone who I’ve recommended this place to is never disappointed. If you’re looking for great, reasonably priced dim sum, as well as authentic Chinese cuisine, this is where you want to be. When you see older Asian folks enjoying tradional dishes on Chinese New Year, you know the spot is going to be legit. The portions are decent, always fresh, quick service, and just delicious. Make sure you go with a few people to dim sum here, because there is so much variety, you will want to try all of it. Well the secret is out! Mark’s Duck House is my 10/10 for best dim sum in the Arlington area. #nichasreviews #asianfood #dmveats #dmvfoodie #chinesefood #dimsum #marksduckhouse

This is place is probably one of the most authentic Chinese dimsum restaurant I have been. Excellent and fast service despite a decent wait during peak hrs. Food is very tasty and yet not very salty. They have an Asian dimsum (dimsum carts) atmosphere on Sundays. The downside is the limited siomai variety, crowded (but fun) and that you can over eat:) If you are claustrophobic, this place is not for you.
Price: Very reasonable, our bill was only $180+ , 4 of us in our party, and already had a steamed fish (need to order from their menu)
I will always make it a point to stop by this place whenever Im in the DC area.
