The burger I got was surprisingly good as well as the fries. The issue was they claimed gratuity was automatically added (I was solo, policy only applies to groups over 6) which caused an $18 burger be $26. Also waited at the bar to be served for 10 minutes and had to walk behind the bar to find someone (they were talking to each other about the cost of other hotels). Food was great, but they added a 30% tip after tax. I’ll be contacting Hilton since they’re usually better than this.

Service was fantastic at the Bar (Thursday, May 22). Great pour and the hamburgers were way better than we thought they would be fries too. Definitely convenient and a great reason to keep Double Tree in mind when staying in Downtown Newark.

This restaurant is a bad value for your money and deceptively priced. There was an automatic “gratuity” added to my takeout order for two people that equated to 21% percent of the pre-tax value of the meal. This is highly unprofessional and not disclosed in their menu’s terms of service. To be clear, a 21% or greater is not out of the question for good service – but absolutely ridiculous for a takeout order for two starters.

Nadine asked if I wanted change after paying the remainder of the gratuity surcharge. This is effectively asking for a 71% tip, and it is an awkward question when you have someone’s $20 in your hand.

I recommend people to just order delivery. It will be cheaper, higher quality, and the final price will be clear before you order. At least delivery services make their surcharges apparent at checkout.

That being said, the wings were tasty.

Would rate zero stars if possible.
The barkeeper was the worst I’ve ever met. He tipped the check by himself and lied to the customers that’s a mandatory charge, even for a take-away-beer.
Ends up in endless stupid discussions about salary…
Do you know who wins a discussion with the guest everytime? The competitor.
With that told, you will never see me again.

The staff is friendly, the portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable. They are also accommodating when it comes to using airline meal vouchers. I dined here three times during my visit.

It’s now called The Junction and it wasn’t bad. I had the fried chicken sandwich and it was super dry and rubbery but the fries were decent. It was on par with fast food but it was open and I didn’t have to leave the hotel.

Can’t give a accurate review because they were closed even though the maps app said they were open. Newark is a sad lonely town on Sunday during a concert event scheduled with 10’s of thousands people in the streets for an event at prudential arena. Sad really really sad it’s a total fail on the part of the businesses of Newark

Been staying here for 3 nights of 5 and every meal has been excellent. Loved the wings, angus burger and beet salad.

Now called The Junction. Majority of the reviews are correct about the service. The service is very slow so do not come if in a rush to catch you flight or to grab food quickly before heading out. A table of three were already in the restaurant eating their meals when we showed up so no one else was there waiting on food. The disappointing part was that my husband and I got to the restaurant somewhere around five to ten minutes before two more tables showed up. A party of six sat down next to us and got their food close to ten minutes before we got ours. Another table of two got their food before us as well after showing up ten minutes after we placed our order. Can’t help but notice those things and then notice my plate of food was cold when I was served. My husband’s breakfast burrito was good but my scrambled eggs and bacon were cold. As someone who is in the service industry, there were a few things that could have been done differently by the staff to make the customer not feel like they were forgotten. The staff was not mean but the service needs major improvement considering the reviews keep mentioning the slow service. We did read the reviews and went there knowing we may wait a while for food but it was being served after others and the cold food that prompted me to write a negative review.

The first night, I had the Slow cooked short rib. It was fairly dry and tasted freezer burnt. The second night, I had the Chicken Wings… they tasted a little freezer burnt also. The third night of my three night stay, I didn’t eat there again. There’s just way too many other options to stay at the hotel and have food that didn’t taste right.
