My wife and I went to Marketplace in Shelton on New Year’s Eve around 5:00, and it was a really nice experience. The restaurant wasn’t very crowded at all, which was great, and we were seated right away. We requested a table near the fireplace, and that ended up being perfect. My wife likes to be warm while she eats, especially in the colder weather, and she really enjoyed how cozy it was by the fire.

We ordered a few appetizers to start. I had the wings, which were tasty. They didn’t completely blow me away, but they were solid. We also ordered the calamari, which was delicious and something we both really enjoyed. We did get the nachos as well, and unfortunately those were not great. There was a lot of topping on the top layer, but many of the bottom chips didn’t have much on them, so the layering could have been much better.

Before the meal, they also brought out bread with butter, and that was actually fantastic. The bread was warm and delicious, and the butter really stood out, which was a nice surprise.

For my entrée, I got the brisket grilled cheese, which I really liked. The brisket almost had a pot roast flavor, and it worked really well in the sandwich. My wife ordered a cheeseburger with French fries, and hers was very good as well.

Our server was excellent. They were very attentive, friendly, and on point throughout the meal, which really added to the experience.

Overall, we really enjoyed our dinner at Marketplace. Between the atmosphere, service, and most of the food, it made for a nice New Year’s Eve dinner, and we would definitely go back again.

Recently went here on a Saturday night for the first time, not sure why it took so long, probably because an acquaintance said she didn’t like it. Anyway, this is extremely popular so be safe and always make a reservation. We watched many people arrive without reservations and wait 30-45 before being seated. The food overall was delicious, skillfully composed and executed. The bread is to die for, you could make it your sole purpose for going but then you’d miss out on the food! The menu is an interesting mix of comfort classics, to meat and potatoes, to vegetarian options but all dishes are inspired creations with a farm-to-table focus. The New England clam chowder was spot on, perfect consistency, some of the best we’ve ever had. The crab cakes were good, a nice thick cake, no breading except for a crunchy panko crust. Our only disappointment was that it was served slightly above room temperature. Perhaps that’s intentional, not sure, but I cleaned the plate. The Tempura Shrimp bowl did not disappoint, so deliciously composed, seasoned and dressed with a deft hand. The Short Rib Bourguignon was stellar, savored every bite of this velvety tender delight. Enjoyed the mashed potatoes with caramelized roasted sweet potato or butternut squash, the dish was sublime. The Maple Tres Leches dessert was very good as a final note. The service was excellent, our waiter was very entertaining with his sense of humor, and juggled 5-6 tables like a pro and had everyone laughing. Yes, the vibe was loud and very busy, but that’s to be expected on the weekend. Go here if you haven’t been, you will not be disappointed!

Had lunch yesterday with my girls at marketplace in Shelton. Starting with a glass of sangria and brussel sprout appetizer both of which were great. Our waitress was gracious and attentive. With an order lunch I had the steak sandwich and my daughter’s had the beet salad and Sweet and spicy crispy chicken bowl. We were disappointed to find out that they did not have the bread pudding for dessert. So a couple of cappuccinos had to suffice
The atmosphere was warm and toasty with a gas fireplace glowing and we really enjoyed the hours spent.
I definitely recommend best place but be prepared to spend!

Had a wonderful dinner with my team at Market Place Kitchen & Bar – Shelton! The atmosphere was warm and modern, perfect for a relaxed yet elevated evening. I ordered the Seared Sesame Tuna, and wow—what a dish! The chef recommended it rare, and that turned out to be an excellent choice. It was perfectly seared, tender inside, and paired with fried rice, pickled cucumber, and a creamy gochujang drizzle that brought everything together. Just lip-smacking tasty!

Service was attentive, and the presentation was top-notch. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for flavorful, thoughtfully prepared food. I’ll definitely be back

Our first time will definitely not be our last. After hearing that we were missing a wonderful experience we were delighted to find that we should have dined here quite a while ago. Excellent service from Mason, attentive staff, a varied menu that proved to be absolutely delicious and the gluten free options that made my wife’s night was the combination that we look for in a restaurant. See you soon Market Place.

Good food, great atmosphere, and friendly service. The short rib focaccia was delicious and well seasoned. Calamari was fresh and flavorful.

Update recently went back and the food was just as good as the first time. I had the pork chop it was flavorful and the hot honey was delicious. My wife had the salmon and she said it was cooked perfectly.

The time is 8:18 and I’m currently sitting at the bar 48 minutes past the start of a reservation that was supposed to begin at 7:30. The staff did not have the table prepared for our party of 12. In fact, they didn’t have any table at all. The only communication we received about seating was nearly 20 minutes past reservation time when we were told another party approximately the same size as ours was lounging and, although they had already paid some time ago, they could not be asked to leave. The manager then thanked us for our patience, but provided little further update unless members of our party (a birthday btw) went to ask. It’s not unheard of to make a reservation for a large party, but it is unheard of (and wildly outrageous) to essentially be told to wait for the other party to get up if and when they feel like it with absolutely no back up options. I wouldn’t voluntarily come back here if my life depended on it.

I absolutely love these restaurants. We have been multiple times to multiple different locations. My most recent trip there was for a dinner with girlfriends and we had a lovely experience. My friend noticed something in her wine (just a small black mark), and they immediately replaced it. The rosè was quite delicious, I might add.
For an appetizer, we shared the fried pickles, which were really good. I had the short rib sandwich on foccacia bread for a main, with a Ceasar salad for the side, and it was very palatable. The side sauce that came with it was worth it alone. The vibe in the restaurant is very upbeat and very fitting for every occasion. I’ll definitely go back again, and would recommend to a friend!
