Old-school, family-owned stop with red & white tablecloths serves BBQ smoked meats plus a full bar.

Being from the south, I decided to visit this barbecue restaurant to eat and compare food and styles of this region and my own home’s. I ordered the Market Combo with sliced brisket and pulled pork. It came with fries and coleslaw, I also decided to order a side of collard greens too. The barbecue was honestly good and I won’t lie, I was surprised. The style was a bit different as it came with caramelized onions and sauce but they were good. I was expecting canned collards as well but they seemed freshly made and they were great. The place was not very crowded and the service was relatively quick.
So why did I deduct a star? It would have been nice if it did not cost so much to sub side dishes. Baked beans and coleslaw are usually staples with barbecue where I am from but to sub for beans it would have cost $4-5. I also prefer my brisket without sauce but it came sauced already.
Overall, it was still good and I would not mind visiting the restaurant again if I were in the area.

They really dropped the ball on the “signature dish”.
Ordered over the phone and waited inside for 15 minutes on them @10:30pm for Take out half slab of ribs was HORRENDOUS.
Very dry, overcooked, no meat, not properly prepared ribs, and definitely NOT tender.
“Jerky would be a great way to describe the texture.”
Spit out the only bite I took and threw it all away. Didn’t even want to try the fries, coleslaw, or toast.
***Had to edit my review since they wanted to make excuses and lie!! Definitely won’t be spending any money here.***

A great nostalgic BBQ joint in NE Minneapolis. Our server was very friendly and efficient. Lots of cool autographed photos decorate the walls throughout. The food was fantastic and super fast after order. Great lunch specials.

We were kind of underwhelmed on this visit. While our server was really excellent, the food we had was…just okay. The brisket and pulled pork were overly sauced and fattier than we would have liked. The biscuit was good, the cheese grits and macaroni and cheese were okay, and the coleslaw had a good flavor but too much mayo. Key lime pie from a bakery out-of-town was good. I know that this has been a mainstay in the barbecue scene in the Twin Cities for many years, but I just feel there’s better barbecue around these days.

Had an amazing meal here last night. The restaurant looked good – it’s old school. We were sat right away and our server was awesome (I think her name was Tory) she was super attentive and quick. They had a nice Happy hour special so we got some drinks and the smoked wings.
The wings were smoked and then deep fried and tasted amazing. Our meals were incredible too. I thought the brisket was some of the best I have ever had. The pork chops were really good too. I really enjoyed that all of the meats tasted differently – different seasonings. I have been to plenty of places that the chicken/pork/beef all taste the same and its hard to differentiate. That isn’t the case here.
Our sides were good too. We both really liked the coleslaw. Wasn’t a huge fan of the beans. I saw another reviewer say that the fries were salty – she is right, but I like them that way.
Incredible meal and glad to see the addition to Northeast.

This was my first and last time eating here. This is not real barbecue, the rib tips are boiled but still tough, the smoke chicken was also tough had to put them both in the air fryer to cook more. Mac n cheese was runny tasting like box Mac n cheese also the sweet potatoes came out of the can with no flavor. I feel like I deserve more quality food for what I paid. It’s too expensive to be this nasty.

First time and unfortunately last…ribs are hard and stale, not fresh as you see the pic. The side of Mac and Cheese is $6, and not appealing to the taste. I feel bad because I live 40 mins away from this place, and wanted to try some new bbq other than famous Dave’s..such a disappointment, I have to throw the majority of my food away!

Very friendly service and exquisite barbecue. The smell of Barbecue Cooking is worth the visit.
The ribs are a dry rub and have great flavor on their own. There are two House BBQ sauces, regular and hot. Real homemade onion rings as well. A beautiful bar area and lots of history of celebrities visiting over decades.

Been coming to Market BBQ for decades as this point. It’s reliable for great bbq and importantly it always has space to dine in, taking out is easy too. It’s open later than most other haunts in town, and has great staff. The seasoned wings are killer, the pulled pork, the biscuits, corn, etc. I haven’t had a bad experience yet, nor have they been out of anything that I have wanted which has been my experience at other spots in town. Onsite parking too and it’s close to some great bars for post dinner fun.

This is as good of a family bbq joint as you could ever hope to find! The appetizers and starters were all great, and the ribs were fantastic, but the smoked bbq chicken really was a showstopper! Come get your fill of cornbread and chicken. If you’re lucky, Jen will be the one serving you and your homestyle bbq experience will be complete!
