The music was a nice selection of soft rock, and the interior/atmosphere was great as well.
They also let us take our dogs inside, although they had ample space for us so results may vary if it’s packed when you visit.
They have a big outdoor dining section where we ate since we were a party of 6. The waitress came over and took our orders right away. I had the vegetarian burrito bowl minus the cheese. The sour cream comes on the side so I just didn’t eat it. The food was flavorful and surprisingly the kidney beans didn’t make me gassy or bloated.
I also had a peach frozen margarita. It took a minute to get used to the taste. It was ok, but probably should have stuck with my go to of mango.
All in the all the spot was good. No complaints.
Myself and the family will visit Marita’s for dinner or a late lunch. We will also visit for after dinner drinks at the bar. I have never had a bad experience here. Not even close to a “wellllllll…. There was a time…”
They now have breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The breakfast is great. Get there to try it!
The 7-layer dip was honestly disgusting. It tasted like everything came straight from a jar or a grocery store container with no freshness at all. The birria tacos didn’t taste like birria whatsoever. I’ve had birria from a lot of places, and while these didn’t taste awful, they were nothing like what you’d expect from true birria.
My wife ordered a bowl and couldn’t even finish it. She said the texture was slimy, and I honestly don’t even know how you could make a bad bowl, but they managed to. We both felt like the guac and salsa weren’t fresh. Even the lettuce looked brown, which just added to the impression that the ingredients weren’t handled properly.
It’s disappointing because the drinks and service set the bar high, but the kitchen didn’t come close to matching it.
Great taste and service you will enjoy the atmosphere with your loved ones. No tortillas or beans are included on the plate so you would have to order that on the side.
Placed an order of the steak and shrimp fajitas and the chicken fajitas and they were practically inedible, felt bad even feeding it to my dogs. The steak and shrimp were rubbery and tasted old and stale. The chicken was burnt and dry as well. Both accompanied by 2 hard and burnt flour tortillas and a generic tasting blend of shredded cheddar and mozzarella.
At about $22 for each dish the quality was really laughable. The portions were small and distasteful. Also there is no rice and beans in their fajita “recipe”??? How do you mess this up that bad??
Servers walked past this table a dozen times while we were there and never bothered to clean up the mess below but made sure the table top was set for the next guests.
The only reason I went this time was because i had a gift certificate. I should’ve known it was going to be another bad experience……..they had 3 customers (including my table) and 2 others at the bar on a Saturday at 6:30 p.m. It seems others are feeling this way about this place.
The food this time was dry, bland, and unexciting. It just looked like someone threw it together without a care. For the prices that they charge, the food should look better than that………and taste better too.
The service wasn’t much better. The staff needs more training. They had no knowledge of the menu, and when we had questions, we were left to figure out out for ourselves. We also had to wait forever for our bill despite our plates being empty and our waitress passing us several times.
I won’t be back. La Tolteca is 5 minutes down the road and 100 times better.
Edit in response to owner’s reply…..
Your reply was laughable. I wasn’t there during a blizzard. It was 2 weeks ago. Nice try, though. If you actually looked at my previous Google reviews, you’d notice that I’m fair and honest……and I was with your establishment. The fact that you responded defensively instead of listening and learning says a lot about you and your business.
I’m sorry you didn’t like what I had to say. Perhaps you can take it as constructive criticism and learn and grow from this. Or not. Either way, I wish you the best.
