I was greeted and seated by a very friendly staff and the decor of this place was awesome! I ordered an iced tea to drink while I looked over the menu. The bartender made this iced tea from scratch and I have to say it was the best tea I ever had in my life!
At my servers recommendation, I ordered the house special Ceviche as an appetizer. In short words it was absolutely incredible! As the picture shows, it was loaded with fish and shrimp and 4 perfectly breaded and lightly fried calamari rings. I’ve had Ceviche all over Costa Rica but nothing like this! You could taste how fresh the fish was and the flavor fusion in this ceviche was next level incredible!
Again, at my servers recommendation I ordered the Trio Del Mar as my main course. He explained that it was served over a bed of spaghetti with garlic and butter sauce. I asked if it would be possible for the chef to make me a cream of mushroom sauce instead as garlic and butter to me is just boring. He said no problem at all.
When my Trio Del Mar arrived I was totally impressed on how amazing it looked on the plate. I knew at that moment that if it tasted as good as it looked, I was about to be transformed to Sea-foodie heaven. That certainly was the case! A generous portion of salmon cooked to perfection, multiple large shrimp also cooked and grilled to perfection, and a generous portion of the most tender and perfectly grilled octopus I have ever eaten! Even if you are not an octopus fan it is hard not to fall in love with the flavor and texture of the way the chef prepares and serves it at this restaurant. The pasta was cooked to Perfection as well and the cream of mushroom sauce that the chef made at my request was incredibly delicious!
If it were possible to give this restaurant 10 Stars I certainly would. Everything about the experience here was top-notch! Outstanding service, incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared Seafood, and an extremely comfortable and pleasant atmosphere! If you are anywhere in the San Jose or escazu area, I cannot recommend highly enough that you do your palate and your taste buds a favor and try a meal at Porto 8!
