My friend and I went with out kids to dinner here few nights ago and while the establishment is small but the food is amazing! Everything was great. The oysters had too much cheese, I was thinking this was going to be more like a charbroiled oyster instead of what we received but I still ate it. If you love cheese and oyster this would be perfect for you however I cant have this much dairy so I ate the oyster and a little of the cheese (im lactose intolerant ) my friend had Shrimp a la Diabla which came with a Spicy as Hell sauce so be prepared (It was a sweet and super spicy). Sides included rice salad fries and bread! A lot of food (carbs) so be prepared. As a foreigner I love my seafood with plantains but I had to understand that plantains are more of a Caribbean side rather than a Mexican. The Guacamole was fresh and delicious. I had the pineapple filled of seafood which included octopus shrimp baby scallops and I believe crab meat (im not 100% sure) I had it with the red sauce per the manager recommendation and it was amazing. Everything is great. I can see why people say its pricey however its worth it. I wished they had a larger establishment or a better lay out (smaller chairs) but I am sure thats part of their team. The manager (Juan) was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable, he explained why they dont have plantains as other cultures as well and explain how they get their fresh oyster, very nice to be able to have an manager make honest recommendations and suggestions. The kids had dinosaur nuggets and fries and they loved it. They also had Virgin piña colada and the small size was honestly a pretty big size! Everything was great I look forward to come back with my mom soon.

The service is really bad, restaurants was empty and i had to wait for a very long time before someone took my order and the server dont check on costumers, if you want something else you have to try to get their attention. The picture from the menu is nothing like the actual plates.

Ordered sushi for the 2nd and last time. It was very expensive and disgusting. It was big and chewy and they didn’t prepare it right. I couldn’t eat it all, I felt sick. I don’t recommend coming here if you don’t speak Spanish, they are rude, will not speak to you or acknowledge you and the waitress was standing there eating food. She didn’t even say thank you. Just all around bad.

I generally go to El Barco in Charlottesville …it was soooo nice to have one close to home. I thoroughly enjoyed my first time visit here my server couldn’t speak English and was still pleasant and got everything right.. lol I heard her curse in English though so we may need a full investigation! Lololol i had fun and the food is AMAZING everytime. I get the fried snapper and mussels …don’t forget your sinaloa sauce!!!!!!!

This place use to be one of my favorite spots to go to. They always had the best service . Their food was always warm and came out quick . Over the months , there service has slowly gotten worse. The last 3 times I’ve been there, the waitresses get snappy, the food comes out cold or Luke warm , and it takes about 50-1 hour for the food to come out. Definitely will go to the one on broad st from now. I’ve heard great things
