If you’re in Sedona and want an unforgettable dining experience, Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill is an absolute must. From the moment you arrive, the setting alone is breathtaking — panoramic red rock views that feel almost surreal, especially around sunset.
The food is just as impressive as the scenery. Every dish is beautifully presented and layered with bold, refined Latin flavors. The steaks are perfectly prepared, the seafood is incredibly fresh, and even the sides feel thoughtfully crafted rather than an afterthought. You can tell there is real attention to detail in both the kitchen and the service.
Speaking of service — it’s exceptional. Professional, knowledgeable, and warm without being overbearing. The staff truly elevate the entire experience.
Yes, reservations can be tough to get — but it’s absolutely worth planning ahead. Mariposa isn’t just dining; it’s an experience. If you’re celebrating something special (or just celebrating being in Sedona), this is the place to do it.
Highly recommend!!!
The food and service here was so incredible that we visited twice in two days!
Food – Every single dish was good. I especially enjoyed the skirt steak, shrimp ceviche, burgers, tres leches, and flan. I could eat a bucket of their cilantro slaw. Nothing pretentious, just simply amazing and balanced flavors.
Service – the best trained group of staff I have come across in a while. Servers were knowledgeable about ingredients and techniques. Super friendly and working in sync. Food came out incredibly fast during dinner service.
Ambiance – that incredible view from the patio and large dining room windows. Oh my….
Buying their cookbook right away.
Went to Mariposa from friend recommended but was very disappointed. The appetizer was not bad. We had the Flores Del Mer for our main course. The lobster in the dish is THE WORST I’ve ever had in my life. As you guys can see in the picture. It’s very hard and dry than overcooked chicken breast
Our servers were excellent—very nice and patient as we asked lots of questions about the menu. The food overall was quite good, with some real highlights: the elote empanadas were delicious, the vaquero steak was perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor, and the prickly pear cheesecake was lovely (though you couldn’t really taste much prickly pear). We also tried the pork chop and chicken entrées—both good, though nothing to write home about. The atún parfait was a fun and tasty starter, and Lisa’s salad was fresh, though a little heavy on the dressing. Still, nice to have some greens!
Overall, a beautiful spot for a special dinner—classy atmosphere, great service, and some excellent dishes.
We started with a perfectly prepared beef empanada. For the main course, I had the filet mignon medium rare with rosemary potatoes and a glass of Carneros Pinot Noir — quite simply, the best steak I’ve ever had in my life.
The way they cook the meat is truly different: an inexplicable crispness on the outside, incredibly juicy on the inside. A rare balance that feels intentional and refined.
What made the experience unforgettable was the genuine warmth and kindness of the entire staff. You can feel the care in every detail. I loved everything about this place
The star of the show was the filet mignon which we both agreed was the best steak we’ve ever had. Great taste from the mesquite, charred crust, with butter soft inside. ALSO!! Lisa’s lemon mashed potatoes with lobster? I’m still dreaming about this dish and went home to buy her cookbook to learn how to make these. The corn side dish was also great! For dessert I got a gelato with caramel and graham cookie crumbles on top. So good. Highly recommend!!
