Social Profile:

Mariposa – Latin Inspired Grill is designed for the ultimate customer experience. The views from the patios and dining rooms could be the finest world wide. If that wasn’t enough – customers will enjoy browsing the restaurant and the grounds enjoying large scale art or star gazing in the dark Sedona night. The cuisine is Latin Inspired, primarily from Chef Dahl’s interactions with chef’s in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. Chef Lisa Dahl and her team focus on premium ingredients and many of the herbs are grown in the herb gardens in the restaurant courtyard. All meats and seafoods come from the very best sources – such as Allen Brothers and Beelers for the meats. For years Lisa has insisted on all organic vegetables from Arizona.

Upscale restaurant & bar with South American-inspired cuisine, a patio & panoramic views.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you’re in Sedona and want an unforgettable dining experience, Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill is an absolute must. From the moment you arrive, the setting alone is breathtaking — panoramic red rock views that feel almost surreal, especially around sunset.

The food is just as impressive as the scenery. Every dish is beautifully presented and layered with bold, refined Latin flavors. The steaks are perfectly prepared, the seafood is incredibly fresh, and even the sides feel thoughtfully crafted rather than an afterthought. You can tell there is real attention to detail in both the kitchen and the service.

Speaking of service — it’s exceptional. Professional, knowledgeable, and warm without being overbearing. The staff truly elevate the entire experience.

Yes, reservations can be tough to get — but it’s absolutely worth planning ahead. Mariposa isn’t just dining; it’s an experience. If you’re celebrating something special (or just celebrating being in Sedona), this is the place to do it.

Highly recommend!!!

Dear reader – This is a very special place.

The food and service here was so incredible that we visited twice in two days!

Food – Every single dish was good. I especially enjoyed the skirt steak, shrimp ceviche, burgers, tres leches, and flan. I could eat a bucket of their cilantro slaw. Nothing pretentious, just simply amazing and balanced flavors.

Service – the best trained group of staff I have come across in a while. Servers were knowledgeable about ingredients and techniques. Super friendly and working in sync. Food came out incredibly fast during dinner service.

Ambiance – that incredible view from the patio and large dining room windows. Oh my….

Buying their cookbook right away.

*** Unforgettably fantastic! *** Mom Daughter last dinner on our Sedona vacation. The flan is dizzying good, latte best we’ve ever had! Every dish we ordered had us saying WOW. My daughter had this mango drink that tasted amazing. Staff was funny, friendly, attentive, with great recommendations. (Mac and cheese was so yummy) On a whim, we saw this place on our drive and canceled our Elote reservations. I can’t believe our resort or restaurant searches didn’t show this place. We like high end, and this is a level above that. Gorgeous crystal art, beautiful amber lighting, picture perfect red rock views. I need 5 more bigger stars to give this place!! Goooo here 1st if in Sedona.

Our last night in Sedona was spent at this Latin Inspired Restaurant. The views are amazing, and the laid back atmosphere is what you are paying for. The food was reasonably priced for a higher end restaurant however, the food in my opinion was average. If you’re in Sedona, it definitely has amazing views and the Yuca Frita was on point.

I’ll definitely not recommend to people travel here. You have more better choice. If you are interest in what happened to us read below.

Went to Mariposa from friend recommended but was very disappointed. The appetizer was not bad. We had the Flores Del Mer for our main course. The lobster in the dish is THE WORST I’ve ever had in my life. As you guys can see in the picture. It’s very hard and dry than overcooked chicken breast

We went to Mariposa at night, and the drive up to the restaurant was beautiful. The setting is very classy, with gorgeous outdoor areas and a refined, contemporary feel inside—though it’s a bit on the dark side indoors.

Our servers were excellent—very nice and patient as we asked lots of questions about the menu. The food overall was quite good, with some real highlights: the elote empanadas were delicious, the vaquero steak was perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor, and the prickly pear cheesecake was lovely (though you couldn’t really taste much prickly pear). We also tried the pork chop and chicken entrées—both good, though nothing to write home about. The atún parfait was a fun and tasty starter, and Lisa’s salad was fresh, though a little heavy on the dressing. Still, nice to have some greens!

Overall, a beautiful spot for a special dinner—classy atmosphere, great service, and some excellent dishes.

Mariposa exceeded our expectations! I had read reviews that it was over rated and maybe it is to people used to the atmosphere of the red rocks but it was totally worth it. Brian was our server and he was exceptional! He brought us out chilled plates and forks for our salad course and warm plates for our sides. I asked for a recommendation for wine and he was spot on! Food was delicious and overall great experience. Recommend to anyone visiting Sedona for the first time that wants great food and amazing scenery.

A truly cozy and beautiful place. The ambiance is warm and inviting, the food is absolutely delicious, and the service is impeccable.

We started with a perfectly prepared beef empanada. For the main course, I had the filet mignon medium rare with rosemary potatoes and a glass of Carneros Pinot Noir — quite simply, the best steak I’ve ever had in my life.

The way they cook the meat is truly different: an inexplicable crispness on the outside, incredibly juicy on the inside. A rare balance that feels intentional and refined.

What made the experience unforgettable was the genuine warmth and kindness of the entire staff. You can feel the care in every detail. I loved everything about this place

My husband and I visited Mariposa for my 30th birthday dinner and it was amazing. The views at sunset, the service from our waiter who did a great job at steering us in the right direction of dishes, and took great photos of us. We ordered the Lisa’s Choice empanadas: Chorizo and potatoes. DELICIOUS! Then, the butter scallops: these were good.
The star of the show was the filet mignon which we both agreed was the best steak we’ve ever had. Great taste from the mesquite, charred crust, with butter soft inside. ALSO!! Lisa’s lemon mashed potatoes with lobster? I’m still dreaming about this dish and went home to buy her cookbook to learn how to make these. The corn side dish was also great! For dessert I got a gelato with caramel and graham cookie crumbles on top. So good. Highly recommend!!
