A hidden gem amongst Giants!
I had Mario’s Pizza off Cleveland Avenue tonight, and wow—what a find. This spot is a great reminder of how easily places off the main road can get overlooked. I would have never found it if it weren’t for Google!

I called ahead and ordered a supreme Detroit-style pizza, and it was ready in under 25 minutes. The hospitality? Top-notch. The waitress was incredibly friendly, and the environment was just as welcoming. Super clean inside, and outside there’s a really cool pizza guy graffiti wall that’s perfect for photos.

Now the pizza: absolute fire. Even without adding extra pepper flakes, the sauce had just the right amount of kick.. not too much to scare off your average Minnesotan, but enough to bring it to life. The sauce was rich, the toppings were fresh, and the crust… that beautifully breaded Detroit-style crust was everything.

I can’t recommend this place enough. Total hidden gem. Don’t sleep on Mario’s!!

The best pizza I’ve ever eaten, definitely in the twin cities and possibly my life. Perfect crust, perfect toppings, perfect amount of cheese. BUT THERE’S MORE: wings were done to perfection and not a single soggy bite (which is hard for a tossed wing!) and the sandwich…THE SANDWICH. The bread was SO fresh and flavorful without stealing the spotlight from the rest of the ingredients. Again, perfect amount to fully taste each flavor without any overpowering. The cheese was out of this world.

We ordered:
Hero: Italian Combo,
Wings: half Buffalo and half Alabama White, Pizza: half Salami & Pepper, half Artichoke.

Lastly but not to be overlooked was their incredible service. We walked in and it felt like our Italian aunt had been waiting for us to arrive, told us all about the menu and what she gets, and always checked in after we sat down.

Overall one of the best start to finish dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Considering a weekly pie and calling it my meal prep.

Note: pizzas take 30 minutes but it’s worth the wait.

I just had the Hot honey pepperoni jalapeno pizza (Sicilian Style) and it was immaculately fantastic (at some point my brain chemistry was being altered). The crust had a perfect blend of crunchy, soft, and great flavor. The sauce was solid even if there was not much of it, the peperoni’s style was really nice and had a good crunch, and the hot honey tied it all together for some amazing bites. I also tried the Oreo balls and they were quite delicious as well; it had a really sweet crunchy taste even if the icing dip was a bit sus. Overall, this is an excellent place for some amazing pizza that’s unique and iconic in it’s flavor, look, and the aesthetics of the restaurant itself.

Very nice local pizza joint. Very friendly staff and delicious pizza served in a picnic style like atmosphere (not my cup-of-tea). Maybe a tad expensive.

The pizza is fantastic, we had the Supreme this time, perfectly done! The salad, excellent. Nice selection of beer too. It is small but there has been a table every time we’ve been here, my favorite pizza place now. Parking is minimal but it’s worth finding a spot to try their yummy pizza!

This place rocks! Retro vibes and amazing service. I’m a sucker for a “by the slice” joint. The first time I stopped in was late in the day, so I grabbed an Italian Hero (their version of a sub) since slices are only available until 3 PM. It was stacked and totally hit the spot. They even made me a custom giardiniera when I asked them to hold the onions—something I wasn’t expecting!

I came back a couple weeks later for a slice of sausage pizza, and it was excellent. Their thick pan-style crust is pure cheesy goodness. Johnny, the owner, is a gem, and I couldn’t recommend this place more.

Buon appetito!

Mario’s is an excellent pizza place.
Monday-Wednesday lunch special. The slice of pizza and soda for $7 is a bargain. A large slice of delicious pizza. I enjoy dining in. Comfortable and friendly atmosphere.

I’ve eaten at Mario’s twice and I can say after living in the Twin Cities for 12 years searching for the best pizza, it is probably my favorite. A couple caveats: 1. they are slow. The first time we ate on site and the food took a long time. Like way longer than you would think so make sure you’re not in a hurry. The second time we ordered ahead for a pick up and it still was longer than expected. However the wait was worth it. 2. They are located on Cleveland which is a busy street and the outdoor dining is on the sidewalk. The indoor dining is a little loud. But as I said the food is amazing and worth it anyway.
