Social Profile:

Nestled in the heart of Laguna Beach, Marine Room Tavern first opened its doors to the patrons of Ocean Ave. in 1934. Boasting the second-oldest liquor license in Orange County, and one of only four Class 48 (Alcohol Only) licenses in Laguna, the bar has since served as the local watering hole for 84 years strong. In that time, the bar has been able to proudly sustain the core elements that have kept the business running, while preserving the heart and charm that make it a staple of the town. Today, the bar continues to ebb and flow with the new tide of Laguna locals, serving just as much as a place to shoot pool and whiskey, as it does a place to shoot selfies and discover new music.

Rotating series of local live music highlighted in a cozy joint with a speakeasy vibe.

Such a great spot in Laguna Beach! The Marine Room Tavern has the perfect mix of laid-back coastal vibes and elevated comfort. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the service is genuinely friendly, and the drinks are always on point. Whether you’re stopping in for a casual bite or settling in for a relaxed evening with friends, it just feels like one of those places you want to come back to. Bonus points for the location and people-watching—Laguna at its best. Highly recommend!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What a Night at the Marine Room Tavern!

I had an absolute blast at the Marine Room Tavern recently! The energy was off the charts—Radio Royalty was playing, and wow, they brought the house down! The band was incredible, delivering all the best 80’s hits with non-stop energy and killer vocals. Seriously, they had the entire crowd dancing from start to finish. If you haven’t seen them yet, you’re missing out!

The place was packed—wall-to-wall with people. In fact, it was so popular that it ended up being standing room only, and they even had to turn folks away at the door! It’s always awesome to see a local spot buzzing like that.

The only downside? The line for drinks was pretty long, but honestly, with a band that good and a vibe that electric, it was totally worth the wait.

Big props to the Marine Room Tavern for hosting such an epic night and to Radio Royalty for absolutely crushing it! Looking forward to the next show! ✨

Best described as an upscale dive bar. We went for a bachelor party and it was the perfect place for that. It was crowded and the live music was fun.

We originally made dinner reservations at sunset but our table was back from the windows that overlooked the beach, so we canceled and got a table in the lounge that was right next to the window. We were shameless tourists taking lots of pictures of the beautiful sunset off La Jolla Shores. The cocktails are a little expensive but were excellent. Much attention to detail. It’s the first time I’ve seen a dirty martini made with dirty ice, and they leave the shaker at the table. We ordered several small plates and they were delicious. We really liked the grilled octopus and also the chicken liver pate. Lily, our server, was excellent and very personable. I highly recommend the experience, especially if you can time the sunset.

The place is pretty cool. Very clean on the inside. Wonderful decor, a cool locale. Great location. Staff are pretty good. People who are at the bar will often be facing away from the bar to watch pool or the live music. The live music is likely to be a one Pedro, who is actually a talented musician. The pool table and various sofas take up a large area of the front room and the rear room is half occupied by these huge couches. Restrooms are clean. It’s a cool place to check out.

Live bands, good crowd but unfortunately, the bar needs to be revamped. Bartenders are too slow to handle weekend volume. They need to hire a bar manager that has experience in high volume bars. Batch cocktails before the shift starts. Think volume over bespoke drinks.

Your bartenders could easily triple their earnings with a better bar program to maximize output and make sure customers don’t have to wait 20 minutes for a drink.

Really lovely, traditional dark wood tavern, complete with a pool table and daily live music. Unfortunately, on the day of our visit, the show was cancelled.

The long, very attractive bar itself dominates the premises, although there are some other seating areas, including comfy leather sofas.

No food is served, although they have the biggest selection of liquors that I’ve ever seen. Also a good selection of craft beers.

Friendly staff and nice feel about the place; highly recommended.

Place fills up quickly on a Saturday night. We were lucky to find two barstools and watched people playing pool while we waited for band to start. Band was really good, 4 out of 5. Pool players were awful. 1 out of 5. Beer was only $7 a bottle which is not bad for a bar in a tourist town. Bartender was zero personality and added nothing to the experience. 1 out of 5 for him. He didn’t even know the name of the band.

I don’t understand why you are allowing dogs into the bar at night. The atmosphere is not for dogs. If people are stupid enough to bring their dog to such a loud place then at least security should turn them down. This needs to be normalized. IT IS ABUSIVE! The only exception is if the dog has ear plugs. I will say it again. The noise is too loud for them. Any one who brings their dog into such a loud space, y’all are horrible. SECURITY do better!

Lovely place, great ambience. Live music & pool table adds to the overall feel of this spot. Perfect location. Bartenders are exceptional, very friendly. Great selection of top shelf liquors from scotch to bourbon to whiskies. Excellent. Weekends are extremely busy with long lines to get in.
