Wait staff appeared rude and rushed! We informed her it was our first time there. She still rushed us to order. No chance to really look over the 6 page menue. Then noticed others who came in when we did were served and gone before we received our order. The refried beans and rice were bland and tasteless (more for decoration than for eating). The fajitas platter was brought out sizzling and made a ridiculous presentation. The dish itself was burned. Literally scorched to the plate. Dry and inedible! Maybe my dog might eat it.
When we checked out to leave the elderly lady at the host station casually ( insincerely) asked how everything was. I told her the fajitas were burned. Her response was ” you should have said something, we could have fixed it”. Too late, we know how to fix it! We won’t be back!!

Really great Mexican food in Bogalusa!! Fresh fried in-house tortilla chips make a world of difference!! No Open and pour out of a bag here, this is the real deal!! There’s a very cool pond / water attraction inside the restaurant that brings a great charm to this joint. Definitely check it out when you’re in town.

Friendly and prompt service. The atmosphere in the back room was quite nice with the water feature adding a nice background noise. The food was very good for the most part. I thought the fajitas could have benefited from some more browning but the taste was good. The Carne Assada was done beautifully but I would have enjoyed a little more guacamole . The flan was lovely and the margaritas were great. The wait staff was attentive and made sure we had what we needed for a wonderful meal.

The food is always delicious. Has been for years. Their salsa is the best that I’ve ever tasted. I always get the chicken fajitas. Also their Top Shelf Margarita is pretty good as well. We go every week.

Always nothing less than amazing. The fajitas were for one (two people could’ve easily eaten this and been full). My nachos were perfect (I get the chips serperately for easy left over heating). Always a great experience at Maria’s!

Beautiful atmosphere and friendly staff. The food didn’t really hit home though. The guacamole was just mashed up avacado without lime juice, cilantro, red onion etc. The dip trio had what tasted like Hormel chili and refried beans. The cheese dip tasted off. I tried the ground beef taco salad. I have a flour allergy and Mexican cuisine is usually friendly. But I felt polluted for the rest of the afternoon and I’m fairly certain the ground beef has flour in it. All in all decent place, just not for this reviewer.

With so many Mexican restaurants available to choose from… Maria’s is a pleasant alternative. Not that it’s so different… but just a little more homely. Small, quaint, and cozy; they deliver everything you expect and the most incredibly smooth margaritas. The food and service were fantastic and although it’s not my usual area… I will undoubtedly be back!
