A huge shoutout to my waitress, Tess, who was working the busy bar area. Despite the crowd, she was incredibly attentive to everyone. I asked for a spicy margarita, and she delivered—it was perfectly balanced with a great heat.
For food, she suggested the Chipotle Chicken Tacos since I love spicy food, and they absolutely hit the spot. They had a nice kick and were packed with flavor. Even the chips and salsa were impressive; the salsa was thick and chunky, not watery like at many other places.
To top it off, Tess was kind enough to give me some local suggestions on where to find the best Maine lobster. She is a true gem and made the visit a joy. Highly recommend!
Probably the high point of the trip was my introduction to Tajin fries with Tajin aioli. Crispy, salty, citrusy with a hint of smoke. These were delicious and fun. I will also add that even the fries themselves, if they didn’t have the seasoning, would have been good.
I think one of the reasons I don’t love Mexican cuisine is because I don’t care for heat. I am a spice wimp and do not enjoy spicy food. The table salsa that came with the complimentary chips was tasty but too hot for me. That being said, we all got appetizers for our entrees. I got the Mayan shrimp, which was 4 or 5 battered, fried shrimp on a bed of shredded lettuce with pickled red onion, street corn, 3 pepper sauce, and diced avocado. It was an attractive dish when it arrived. The shrimp themselves were quite good, the pickled onions were a great accompaniment to the shrimp, as was the avocado. I should have requested no sauce. I think I would have loved it if I had. Unfortunately the heat level left me scrambling to find more avocado I was given, as it helped with the heat. I also wouldn’t have minded more than the 3 kernals of street corn. It’s definitely a good dish and the fact that it was too spicy for me is on me, not them. Both my friends had Hector’s quesadilla, one with carnitas and one with Birria. They came with guacamole and sour cream. They looked nice and my friends enjoyed them. Even though they were appetizers, both had leftovers to take home. None of us had dessert. Our server was training a new hire. Both were friendly and helpful. Our waitress new the menu well and was able to answer all our questions. We weren’t in a rush per se, and we did have cocktails to start, but all in all, we were there the better part of two hours.
What truly elevated the experience, though, was the service. Our waitress was unbelievably attentive. Even while juggling a busy shift, she made me feel completely comfortable and well taken care of. She offered thoughtful dinner suggestions and recommended a beverage that paired perfectly with my meal — and she nailed it. Her intuition and attention to detail really stood out.
Great food, incredible service, and an all-around fantastic dining experience. I’ll definitely be back!
2 tacos, taco salad with chicken, and hand held chicken burrito with rice and beans.
Firstly, the chips could benefit from a little less salt. However, I must admit they were still good. The sauce, though, was impressive. As someone who enjoys spicy food, I felt it could use a bit more kick, but it was still enjoyable.
The Mexican setting of the restaurant added a vibrant and inviting atmosphere to the evening. The warm, cozy lights created a perfect ambiance for a relaxed meal.
Now, onto the highlight of my meal – the fajitas. I ordered both chicken and beef, and let me just say, they were seasoned just right. The combination of the tender meat and the mix of veggies, peppers, and onions took the flavor to another level. One suggestion would be to season the rice with a chicken seasoning from Texas or California, which could enhance the overall dish. The beans were pretty good as well.
Moreover, I was impressed with the excellent customer service throughout my visit. The waitstaff was knowledgeable about the menu, and their recommendations were spot on. They were quick to attend to any requests, ensuring that my dining experience was smooth and enjoyable.
Despite the minor seasoning preferences, I would definitely consider coming back to this restaurant for another meal.
To wrap up the experience on a sweet note, I indulged in dessert – churros served with ice cream and a drizzle of chocolate. It was the perfect way to end the meal.
In summary, my dining experience was a mix of surprises and delights. While there’s room for some improvement, the overall quality of the food, the warm ambiance, and excellent customer service make this restaurant a place I’d be happy to return to.”
