We had just finished a sail and needed a place for lunch. The wait at the most popular place was 30 minutes, so we wandered the main street and came upon Marek’s. There were only 8 other people in the place, but it was comfortable and the service was quick and friendly.
We ordered the Fish and Chips and a Chicken and Gouda Salad. The fish and chips were very disappointing as there was only 4 little pieces of fish. The fries were good though. It was not at all worth $21.00. The salad was ample enough, but the chicken was dry and the dressing was way too sweet. The shredded gouda did add an interesting flavor profile. I can’t say we would recommend eating here.

I love local businesses and am rare to dislike food but my wife and I left SO disappointed. To start we ordered the lobster chowder which was honestly pretty good. A little less flavorful than one would want but we’ve had worse. For main entrees we had Parmesan crusted walleye and Chicken Marsala which is where the disappointment started. My walleye was dry, small, and very lacking in flavor. It was as if they had just boiled the fish and added a Parmesan crust and seared it so it would stick together. My wife’s chicken Marsala was leagues better but that’s still not saying much, unfortunately. It was an uneven amount of noodles cooked in a wine reduction sauce. Thankfully due to the large portion of Marsala I didn’t leave hungry, only disappointed. The servers were great but I can’t in good faith recommend you eat here.

The Cajun chicken pasta was delicious and it’s a ton of food expect to take some home unless you share. My partner got the perch basket and it was light and delicious as well. Neal’s overall tasty price slightly overpriced for the quality of food.
We didn’t need reservations because there was a winter storm and barely anyone out. Otherwise I’m not sure how busy it gets.

Wow! What a wonderful date night. Atmosphere was classy and extremely clean. Service was fantastic. The host Mike was very friendly and our server Sonia was very knowledgeable and attentive. Food was impeccable! Started with the Brussels. Very crispy, sweet and savory. We ordered prime rib and walleye for our entrees. Large portion sizes and cooked perfectly. Ended the evening with the house made chocolate mousse and peanut butter chocolate cheesecake. Both were so good! We will definitely be back.

Let me get this straight. Firstly, the staff was exceptional. Very friendly, constantly filling up water glasses, definitely nice folks. Now then, it was SO incredibly loud, we had to practically scream at the waitress for her to hear what we said. It was loud from all the conversations, mixed with the live music upstairs, and the cheering and clapping from the folks upstairs. So, not near as welcoming as we would’ve hoped. The food seemed exciting, however it DEFINITELY did not qualify for the bill we received. We got to appetizers, the crab cake and the Brussels sprouts. The crab cake was excellent, but it definitely needed the béarnaise sauce. It wasn’t seasoned at all otherwise. Additionally for my wife and I, it seemed a decent appetizer, but for the price we would probably have recommended a few smaller crab cakes than one medium one. Something more shareable and enjoyable for the cake itself. The Brussels sprouts were infinitely worse. The were burnt to Hell for starters, and placed in a bowl with barely any bacon, and the bacon juices and honey slipped off of them and piled into the bottom. Additionally there were green onions on top which did nothing for them, actually seemed rather bizarre. Needed more bacon and to be served on a platter so you can actually taste the honey and bacon WITH the Brussels sprouts. After the appetizers, and with that atmosphere we were both just ready to get out of there. Certainly a tourist trap for gullible tourists with no sense of taste.

Keep in mind that we were here in the ofF season. In peak season you may experience a wait.
Lunch was so good we came back for dinner. The wait staff for both meals were friendly and attentive.
For lunch, I had hot wings and my companion had the Gouda grilled cheese. We both had the fries. The wings were good and the fries were perfectly crispy. The grilled cheese had a great toast on it and the cheese was melted properly.
For dinner I had the prime rib special and my companion had the before Alfredo. The prime rib was perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The au jus was properly seasoned and not overly salty. This was the best prime rib I’ve had in a while. My companion said that the veggies and pasta were perfectly to the bite.
This is a great find! And totally by accident. I highly recommend stopping in for a bite if you find yourself in Charlevoix Michigan.

On our trip in Charlevoix, Michigan this past weekend, my husband, Kirk and I came across Marek’s Harbor Grill. The servers were nice and friendly. We sat at the bar and found out through conversations that the bar was refurbished from an old boat. We decided to order something light for lunch since we had dinner reservations later that evening at another establishment. We ordered the lobster chowder. The chowder was amazingly delicious, as it came in a large portion sized dinner bowl that had large chunks of lobster . The smell of the chowder was divine as it did not have a fish smell or an aftertaste of the ocean. Hats off to Marek’s, which is under new ownership!

The special was Prime Rib with White fish. The prime rib was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. I really enjoyed the dinner. We dined outside which was nice.

Great service. We sat at the bar, the interior seems a bit more casual than last year, no white table cloths this time. We ordered the round lake burger, house salad and fries, lobster soup and grilled cheese. The burger and grilled cheese were so over priced, the soup was very good. The salad was basically just lettuce and 1/4 of a tomato with homemade ranch. I would say the sandwiches are not good value for money.
