Mar-Bella Fish Market

Outstanding seafood and a truly memorable lunch in Puerto Morelos. Everything we ordered highlighted the freshness and care that Mar-Bella is known for.

The coconut shrimp with rice was perfectly done—crispy, flavorful, and balanced without being overly sweet. The whole fried snook was the star of the table: expertly cooked with a beautiful crunch on the outside and tender, moist fish inside. Simple preparation that let the quality of the fish shine.

We also tried the chocolate clams roasted with cheese, which were rich, indulgent, and surprisingly delicious—a bold dish that paired well with the rest of the meal.

Relaxed atmosphere, excellent food, and a genuine coastal feel. This is exactly the kind of place you hope to find when visiting a fishing town. Highly recommended, and absolutely worth the visit

Our waiter, Alexander was very informative and patient with us. The bill for your fresh fish is by kg. He did a great job guiding us through what we wanted and how much it would cost. The best octopus we have ever had. Coconut shrimp was yummy! We are
Excited to go again!

Can not believe this is not 5 stars! This was the best meal we had on our vacation hands down! Vladimir was such a great waiter, he guided us through the menu. We ended up with a shrimp and octopus ceviche, sashimi. Ahi in a soy ponzu, and finished with 3 U-8 colossal shrimp, grilled to perfection. If you are close to or just passing through PM, this is a must stop!!!! Absolutely fabulous!

Please eat here lol. If you love fish and seafood it hands down the best. The octopus was so fresh, seasoned perfectly, we got seafood fried rice which was down so I missed a picture. Try as much as you can it’s all great.

The venue is right by the water and has a nice view. However we ordered fish for 3 people and paid 2X what we would normally pay at similar restaurants along the coast.

The food was OK, nothing to write home about. They also got our order wrong (Spanish is not our 1st language) but they worked hard to fix it and offered a complimentary dessert.

We probably wont go back or recommend it.

Caveat emptor. Mar-Bella, from the street entrance, bills itself as a fish market, however Mar-Bella is a lovely setting for a high priced restaurant overlooking the beach in Puerto Morelos. The menus don’t have prices however there is a sandwich board with the market prices per piece or by the kilo for a variety of fresh seafood. From our table overlooking the water we started off with a mediocre Aperol Spritz, an espresso and a natural water. Like I mentioned, the menus have no stated prices so we were a little confused when we saw some dishes mention seafood ingredients and many other dishes on the menu merely talk about a sauce or other ingredients without mention of a main meat or seafood. Anyway, we ordered the Puerta del Mar ceviche because it clearly stated that there were clams, scallops and shrimp in this dish. The ceviche was nicely presented and was very delicious indeed. When we finally asked for our bill, which was comprised of a Spritz, espresso, water and a ceviche, we were first informed that the electricity was out and we would need to pay in cash. To our dismay the bill was $1650 MXN for our light lunch. $350 for a Spritz and over $1000 MXN for a ceviche where every place else seemingly is half that price. Fortunately we had just enough money to cover only the bill and we saved 20 pesos in order to take the Collectivo home. I don’t know if we would have to wash dishes or sit and wait for the power to be restored in order to use a credit card to pay the bill. In closing the food quality is very good however the experience is deceptively, IMHO, pricey…

Beautiful location! NO PRICES on the menu ….. be sure and ask questions FIRST. Also make sure you’re ready to spend some money.

This location was very pretty. It had some great views and was easy to get to from the main thoroughfare in town.

When we arrived, we were seated almost immediately, which was great. We had our two boys with us and we were open to try lots of different types of seafood….. and we did.

We ordered clams , oysters, and steak.

In general, the food was good. The steak was cooked a little more than I like, but the meat quality was low. The claims were hit with the kiddos.

My wife did enjoy her food. She said it was definitely solid 4 star.

In general, I would say I would give it a 3 1/2 to 4 star I went ahead and gave the restaurant a four star because of the atmosphere. The one place I was disappointed in was when our waiter at the end came to us and said that it was mandatory we tip him a certain amount.

He basically tried to tell us that we had to over tip him….. we want to give him a very good tip because he had done a good job, but he got pretty aggressive. I’m guessing because it was slower that day and he probably needed the extra money. I definitely didn’t feel. He handled it well and really left a sour taste in our mouth after the entire experience.

If you’re looking to visit this cute town, this is definitely a good option, but please be warned. There is no minimum tip that is ever required and their food is very pricey.

The food here is incredible. The views and atmosphere are also wonderful. I had the most delicious shrimp tacos I’ve ever had. This is a fantastic spot for lunch if you want a relaxing seaside view, good food and drinks. Highly recommend.

I’m giving this a 4 star because the server messed up two of our orders, and in my opinion it was overpriced. That being said, pay attention to which fish you are ordering off the board because some are local, but others are imported. I accidentally ordered something imported, which could have been why my bill was so high. ~$100 CAD for shrimp tacos, crab (imported) and two beers. Prices aside I would still return because the food was so good, I didn’t mind paying a bit more for my meal.

We came here in the recommendation of someone at our resort. We shared their ceviche with shrimp, scallop, and octopus and it was possibly the best ceviche we have ever had. Amazingly good.

Cocktails were very good.

For main course we ordered a fish that is similar to grouper. Preparation was to deep fry the entire fish. The white fish was snook, which they sautéed. It was delicious.

Service was very good. I had read some reviews of people complaining about service but we had no reason to complain.

Total bill was about $200 for four people, with cocktails. We found this to be reasonable.

The restaurant is located close to the plaza in Puerto Morelos.

Celebrated my 50th Birthday meal here with my husband and had a fantastic time. The food was delicious, and the drinks lovely. The menu was plentiful, and perhaps a bit confusing, but the chef was very patient in making recommendations and making sure we didn’t over or under order. Had some delicious Shrimp and Tuna Tostadas as entrees, proceeded by some delicious tortillas and dips and shared a beautiful rice dish, house special, with lobster, shrimp and octopus. The venue is delightful, and the service was excellent.
