Took some of my contest gift cards & headed up to the Lowell/Chelmsford area for a food run. First stop was Maq’s, where I went straight for the Saturday special: cherry Coke–glazed pork belly burnt ends mac bowl. A mouthful to say, but even better to eat. Creamy mac & cheese loaded with tender pork & crispy onions, seriously addictive. Also ordered the cheese Detroit, cooked perfectly with just the right balance of sauce & cheese, & finished with the garlic buffalo tenders. Crispy, flavorful, & a solid kick without overpowering. Great people running this spot, & they’ve only been open about five months. If you’re in the area, this one’s a must try. ️

Maq’s is new to the scene and they’re already making waves. They keep it simple with just chicken, Detroit style pizzas & a few sides, with some shakes & desserts. On Saturdays they offer bbq. The chicken was incredible. I had a hot lemon pepper chicken sandwich. But the best thing I thought by far was the burnt end Mac & cheese bowl. Holy cow! The pork & burnt ends in those bowls were as sweet as candy, great smoke to them. I can see this place blowing up this year. Possibly expanding to other cities.

There’s something universally comforting about chicken tenders. Whether it’s the golden, crispy crust or the juicy, tender meat inside, they hit all the right notes. And let me tell you, I recently encountered a chicken tenders and slider that were nothing short of phenomenal.
From the moment these tenders hit the table, they commanded attention. The exterior was a beautiful shade of golden brown—perfectly crisp without being greasy. The breading was light but substantial enough to give each bite that satisfying crunch. It wasn’t the kind of batter that crumbled into a mess the moment you took a bite; no, this was a delicate yet strong shell that held its own.
But let’s talk about the inside, the true test of any good chicken tender. The meat was moist, tender, and flavorful without being salty. Each bite was juicy, yet not a single drop of grease oozed out.
The chicken itself was cooked to perfection, with the meat almost squeaking in your mouth, fresh, succulent, and tender with every chew.
And the seasoning? Got the lemon pepper, It wasn’t so overpowering that it drowned out the natural flavor of the chicken, but it gave just enough character to make you want to savor each bite a little longer.
But if I’m being completely honest, the true magic of these chicken tenders wasn’t just in the seasoning or the sauces, it was in their ability to be both comforting and exciting. They were everything you want from chicken tenders, crispy, juicy, and with just the right amount of flavor to make them irresistible. Every bite was a reminder of why we love food so much: the pure, simple joy of a well-cooked meal.
So, to the chef of this restaurant that made these chicken tenders? Bravo. You’ve set the bar high, and I won’t soon forget the joy of biting into that crispy, golden perfection. If you’re ever in the mood for chicken tenders, make sure you track these down—they’re a game-changer.
Fries, were also amazing!! Crunchy from the outside, but soft on the inside.
Final verdict: 10/10. Would dip, bite, and devour again.

Fries were the highlight. I got the spiciest chicken, which def burns the tougue… was just lacking a bit flavor (like most hot chicken joints). I will go back and re- rate it after trying something less spicy so I can taste the flavor. They also had detroit style pizza so I’ll check that out too.

If your looking for the best chicken sandwiches than this is the place you want to check out. My go to is the hot honey or the lemon pepper can’t go wrong with either. Also like to point out their one of a few places in MA that serves Detroit style pizza which was out of this world especially the hot honey pepperoni. I will be back for sure might even be a regular.

MAQS in Lowell is easily one of my new favorite spots! The food is always fresh and full of flavor — their pizza, milkshakes, and burger sliders are all amazing. You can tell everything’s made with care, and the staff is super friendly and welcoming. The place has a great vibe whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or hanging out with friends. Definitely recommend checking them out!

So glad we finally got to go in. They had fantastic service. The chicken was delicious and juicy with wonderful sauce on very fresh bun. Fries were crisp and flavorful. Had the strawberry shortcake milk shake, it was great with crunchy bits. We cannot wait to come back and try the Detroit style pizza.

This place is great. It’s a little pricey if you compare some other fried chicken options, but I’ve been looking hard for a really good place to just have every now and then. I don’t want to waste money when I order out. I’m doing it for convenience and to have something I can’t easily do myself. This is my place for that. Definitely recommend it. Haven’t wasted my money getting anything from here after 4 orders. They didn’t pack the cheese sauce on my last order, but it’s a dollar. If they packed the cheese sauce, I’d be calling Google asking how to leave 6 stars. This place is great. Seasoned chicken slider as is with the cheese/pickles/maq sauce is my favorite thing. I’m moving soon and I’m gonna miss this place, thought a review was the least I could do

Had to check out Maqs after hearing about their grand opening. I’ve never really had Detroit-style pizza before but it looked too good to pass up. Ordered through their website and went with the hot chicken pizza. It said 30 minutes, so I hung out at the restaurant and ended up chatting with the owner, Ross. He’s from Lowell and has been dreaming up this spot for a while—you can tell he went for top-notch everything. The dough takes three days to rise and the chicken is hand battered.
Food came out in about 20 minutes, right before they closed, and it was amazing. The dough was perfect, the sauce rich, the chicken crispy and spicy, and the pickles weirdly tied it all together. I added some Mill City Red (Lowell-made hot sauce) on top and it brought it to another level. Just when I thought I couldn’t be happier, they offered me a milkshake on the house.
A+ food and hospitality. I’ll definitely be back to try more of the menu soon!
