Mapo BBQ is our favorite spot for team dinners in San Jose. The food is always consistently delicious – especially the kkot-sal (beef sirloin), spicy gopchang bokkeum, and squid tteokbokki. No matter how many times we visit, the quality and flavors never disappoint. The portions are great for sharing, and the friendly, attentive service makes it a perfect place for group gatherings and company meals. This is the restaurant we choose most often for work dinners, and everyone always leaves happy. Highly recommended!

Met a friend there during a weekday for lunch. I had kimchi stew and my friend had spicy soup with mackerel. We both enjoyed our dishes and the service was pleasant.
I went back a couple of weeks after for bbq. Food was good but the lady who served us was really lacking. Too rushed to listen and be attentive…so much so that we felt uneasy and not comfortable in asking for normal stuff like refills on banchan and water.

This is one of the best barbecue spots in Santa Clara, hands down. They also have excellent side dishes, including their fresh kimchi. However, service always sucks and I speak the language.

This is my favorite kbbq spot, it’s on the higher price end, but service here is amazing and the food is top notch. Highly recommend the combo orders for groups

Love the beef brisket, beef sirloin, kimchi, pork belly, and banchan here. However, not a lot of options for non-beef eaters or vegetarians. Service can be hit or miss, depending on how crowded it is. Also, parking is a major problem, since there’s a lot of construction and it’s located in a small narrow plaza. Menu is on the pricey side, so budget accordingly.

Service is friendly here. A bit more modest than the mega kbbq spots opening up around here but the meats are pretty good. Price is slightly higher or just on par with the other spots. Kimchi and other panchan are quite good. Love the cumin spice they give…really unique.

Seriously a hidden gem! I love this place. One of the best Korean BBQ restaurants in the bay. Their brisket is the best quality I had that is equivalent to high end restaurants as well as their service! Unlimited banchan and the only place that has decent gopchang, which is always hard to find. The service always helps to cook your meat for you and that’s worth everything. The exterior of the place doesn’t look like much since there is some construction to the whole building, but the quality and price of the food is super worth it. Every experience here is always the best!!

Omfg this place is amazing and authentic.
If you don’t speak Korean, bring a Korean friend. Try everything on this menu, the meats are really fresh. This is a weekly staple when you’re bringing the Yeobo
They also have a secret menu.

I was checking the reviews to see if anyone shared the same experience of being charge for $1 for plastic container (for leftover soup) and $.50 for foam (for rice), which left me just a bit less satisfied as I am not seeing this as a common practice. The food portion was large and pretty tasty. Service was a bit cold, but courteous, I accepted that considering I had to eat late today and asked whether it is too late for them three times before sitting down (arrived 9pm and out of the door before 10pm). I just did not want to be hit with some made-up changes and felt I was being punished.

Gam ja tang was really tasty and there was more than enough food for the two of us. The pork meat was so tender and it just fell off of the bones when i picked it up. The flavor was definitely there, but it did get too heavy and salty towards the end. They gave us a lot of banchan and it helped a lot with the heaviness. The gam ja tang came with two bowls of mixed grain rice which I loved as well.
The staff were all really nice too.
