The only thing that wasn’t up to par was the service. There were 2 guests. When our drinks arrived, they only brought 1. The server thought only one was ordered…hmmm..
So they made his drink, but it wasn’t presented in the way it should have. Fail. The server was very unenthusiastic, was too busy with another table to check on us and had another server take our bill. Let me say…the restaurant was not busy at all. We were the first ones there that morning. The hosts staff was very friendly and inviting, so kudos to them! The bartender was great as well! But the server???? He failed when it came to us. I’ll go again- hoping next time to get a different server.
Are you kidding me? Fantastic. Juicy. Delicious. So good, it is just crazy! I have a new dish idea: The Steak Bites (with their savory, jaw-dropping sauce) served on a mountain of grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes. We can call it the “Are you Kidding Me?” Because, are you? So good. There are some skills in that kitchen!
Appetizer: Steak Bites
Main Course: Meatloaf
Soup: Tomato Basil
The food came out decently quick but it was kind of disappointing, to be honest. My friend got the almond-crusted walleye which was decent but the remoulade was really just too thick and fatty. It tasted like straight mayo instead of having any tang from the capers. It basically did not elevate the dish but kind of ruined it. So, we discarded it. I got two appetizers. The brussel sprouts were pretty boring. Though, I like the way they were cooked. They were crispy and blackened on the outside and soft on the inside. It’s just that the lardons, aioli, and queso made it taste like fat on fat on fat. I asked the bartender for some lemon wedges to add a zing of flavor. I honestly think that a balsamic drizzle would do the dish some good. The steak bites were pretty mediocre. The bordeaux sauce was meh, and I didn’t taste the horseradish at all. I was really looking to the bite from the horseradish. The roasted tomatoes were good but should have been cut smaller and spread throughout the dish for the perfect bite. This was also another missed opportunity on flavor. The steak was cooked perfectly, though. I will give them that. The portions are also pretty hefty and the prices were decent.
I’m a contract worker in the area with limited time to try all of the local restaurants. Would I come back? Maybe. But, I’d definitely order something else.
We had the Big Pig pork sandwich with fries, Tempura Shrimp Tacos, Steak Bites appetizer, a Grain Bowl with added Blackened Tuna, the Manitou Mac with added Grilled Chicken, and the Chicken Chimichanga special – nothing but good things to say about the food.
We each also had dessert – New York Vanilla Cheesecake, Bread Pudding, and a Cookie Skillet. I have to say that most of us ordered the wrong one and would have preferred trading with another mom. That’s probably just the nature of women and desserts. Next time we go out I’ll suggest ordering a variety for the table and then just sharing them all. Lol
The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was nice, I’ll definitely be back!
