Manila Sunset Grille – Filipino Restaurant
Reviews
I’ve been coming to this mom & pop shop since I was a kid. This is the place for some delicious freshly made filipino food.
It is a small restaurant, but it’s a good place to grab to go or there’s seats to enjoy your meal. Their food can be found at your Filipino parties!
What do I recommend here??
Bibingka- (as per google: traditional Filipino baked rice cake, known for its soft, spongy texture and slightly sweet, coconut flavor)
That is what they’re known for!
Second best? The bbq. Chicken or pork. They have a mini window so you can see them grill.
My usual?
Pork inihaw
Lechon kawali
Palabok.
The food here is so simple, very affordable, and very good! I don’t know why I haven’t returned here sooner. Rice, meat, and a bowl of soup is all I need to be happy. Simple life.
I got the the Manila Pork BBQ (which has become my favorite). You get a good portion for only $10.39. In this day and age, that is very affordable in my opinion. I also got a side of the Goto soup, which you also get a decent portion and this was only $4.99, again very affordable for the amount you get. You also get a free side of complimentary sinagang soup. All can be seen in my pictures.
Only negative review I have is, yes if you get caught here when a bunch of people show up at the same time, your order can take some time to receive. Even still, Overall 5 ⭐️
Better just fly to Philippines. You will probably get served faster there or one of the other local filipino resraurants. Done with this place for wasting time.
You could dine in but there isn’t a lot of space, so it’s the perfect place to get some quick to go food. Everything tasted delicious and the service was quick. My photo is after eating a bit more than half my plate and there’s still so much. I was stuffed at the end.
*pic shows other food (bangus) but did not try.
Gotto was a little too bland for my liking but was paired nicely with the tofu. Bibingka was on point! Moist and buttery. Sago at gulaman was a let down as it was just crushed ice for the majority of it – by the time the ice had melted it just tasted like water with a hint of syrup.
Service took overall 25 mins which wasn’t too bad as it was quite busy and we had ordered a lot.
Another good thing about this place is that they give you a side of sabaw from sinigang. Very tangy and flavourful.
The pick up time for the food was 1215pm. Because of the ridiculous agonizing wait, when the food was given and handed to us, it was cold.
How does a restaurant function with 1 employee? We will NEVER go back to this restaurant ever again!
Anyways, the BBQ pork was so amazing. The Pancit Malabon, perfect taste. The Arroz Caldo, yummmmy. Such nostalgic comfort food. Sinigang. Babingka a la mode (so moist). Wow. The taste was so delicious.
There is a sign that suggests that there is a shortage of coconut. So yes, don’t expect a lot of it. Remember the labor shortage? He asked for 15 or so minutes. It came back quicker than that.
I’m happy. Hope u give them a visit.
