Look here! One of the go-to Filipino spots in National City.

I’ve been coming to this mom & pop shop since I was a kid. This is the place for some delicious freshly made filipino food.

It is a small restaurant, but it’s a good place to grab to go or there’s seats to enjoy your meal. Their food can be found at your Filipino parties!

What do I recommend here??

Bibingka- (as per google: traditional Filipino baked rice cake, known for its soft, spongy texture and slightly sweet, coconut flavor)

That is what they’re known for!

Second best? The bbq. Chicken or pork. They have a mini window so you can see them grill.

My usual?
Pork inihaw
Lechon kawali
Palabok.

Hmmm… very mixed reviews about this place. I came to this place for the first time in a while, probably in over a year, just last Thursday. I’m actually sitting inside right now waiting for my order as I type this. Today will be my 3rd time here in the past 6 days.

The food here is so simple, very affordable, and very good! I don’t know why I haven’t returned here sooner. Rice, meat, and a bowl of soup is all I need to be happy. Simple life.

I got the the Manila Pork BBQ (which has become my favorite). You get a good portion for only $10.39. In this day and age, that is very affordable in my opinion. I also got a side of the Goto soup, which you also get a decent portion and this was only $4.99, again very affordable for the amount you get. You also get a free side of complimentary sinagang soup. All can be seen in my pictures.

Only negative review I have is, yes if you get caught here when a bunch of people show up at the same time, your order can take some time to receive. Even still, Overall 5 ⭐️

Good food but is it really worth the wait anymore? Called ahead for the 4th time and no one answers the phone. I understand things can get busy but the management should already figure this out by now. They know thier peak hours but I guess they decide to do nothing about it. When I get to the line, the cashier mentions that there is nothing they can do about it and they just dont answer the phone. Also, the grill is closed after 430 I believe so dont even bother driving to the store to wait in line.

Better just fly to Philippines. You will probably get served faster there or one of the other local filipino resraurants. Done with this place for wasting time.

We have been waiting for a long time and have no apologies. When we got here, it was empty. Nobody was here, and I was like, “A great we will get our order early. After 10 mins, more ppl coming, then after 20 mins, still waiting for our order then they called someone order ok we got skipped. I’ll wait. Then, after another one, okay, this is not good. I definitely got skipped again. I told the front they said yes, it’s coming. But called another person order c’mon what’s going. We literally got skipped more than 3 orders and waited for almost an hour (53 mins). The counter didn’t even apologize what the heck!. Ohh fyi our food was cold as well, so what the heck! The front was just laughing and telling the back, “hahahah Nakalimutan ko order nya (I forgot her order)” while laughing. Also, the rice is overcooked

We’ve been coming here to eat breakfast and sometimes lunch. This time we ordered for take out. It was not busy. We bought 5 bibingka. I tried bibingka in other bakeries but this one is by far the best, moist and delicious.

Went here for the first time today and it was so good. First thing that struck me was how low the prices are. There main plates are a little less than $10 and you get a solid portion of food. My girlfriend used to frequent their other location all the time but that one closed down so she was happy this one is still open.

You could dine in but there isn’t a lot of space, so it’s the perfect place to get some quick to go food. Everything tasted delicious and the service was quick. My photo is after eating a bit more than half my plate and there’s still so much. I was stuffed at the end.

Been coming to Manila Sunset for a few years now when I am in town. BBQ has always been great, tried other items on the menu – the gotto and tokwa at baboy, the bibingka and sago at gulaman.

*pic shows other food (bangus) but did not try.

Gotto was a little too bland for my liking but was paired nicely with the tofu. Bibingka was on point! Moist and buttery. Sago at gulaman was a let down as it was just crushed ice for the majority of it – by the time the ice had melted it just tasted like water with a hint of syrup.

Service took overall 25 mins which wasn’t too bad as it was quite busy and we had ordered a lot.

Another good thing about this place is that they give you a side of sabaw from sinigang. Very tangy and flavourful.

We ordered for pick up and waited more than 30 minutes. The line was all the way outside the door and people in line were getting pissed because this restaurant had 1 cashier both for dine in and pick up.
The pick up time for the food was 1215pm. Because of the ridiculous agonizing wait, when the food was given and handed to us, it was cold.
How does a restaurant function with 1 employee? We will NEVER go back to this restaurant ever again!

We were about to go get Chinese food, but landed here at Manila Sunset. I haven’t come here for many years…perhaps a decade because the last time I came, I was disappointed…. but everyone deserves a 2nd chance (and more, right?).

Anyways, the BBQ pork was so amazing. The Pancit Malabon, perfect taste. The Arroz Caldo, yummmmy. Such nostalgic comfort food. Sinigang. Babingka a la mode (so moist). Wow. The taste was so delicious.

There is a sign that suggests that there is a shortage of coconut. So yes, don’t expect a lot of it. Remember the labor shortage? He asked for 15 or so minutes. It came back quicker than that.

I’m happy. Hope u give them a visit.

Store was 20min to closing time, we were left with limited choices nothing from the grill. We got pancit malabon, bibingka and arroz caldo. We haven’t had this type of noodles in awhile so it was nostalgic. Bibingka was really good, makes you feel that Christmas season is getting closer. This pairs well coffee or hot cocoa.
