They’ve got a sizeable seating area for food, coffee, drinks, and now even pizza. We tried the sourdough, community sandwich loaf, muffuletta, fried chicken sliders, and a couple of sweet pastries. The sliders were amazing – thin but moist slices of chicken meat. The muffuletta is an acquired taste with a has a unique flavor – worth a try.
The community sandwich loaf is huge, crispy on the outside and super fluffy inside. Has a tinge of sourness.
We also saw the “electric lemonade” being made — a mix of cold brew, lemon, and spices — and it looked so refreshing. On my list for the next visit!
The 3 stars is for the disappointing adding of arugula salad on top of the pizza. The board at the cashier’s said $3, but was charged $5 for it. I looked below later and after flipping the paper menu it said $5 for the arugula. The board where the prices are visible should be accurate. What was more disappointing was when I order arugula on top of my pizza, I don’t expect it to come in a small box.
What an awesome place! The interior design is gorgeous with plenty of seating while still feeling really open and well lit, even in the way back.
The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful in explaining to me some of the offerings I’d never heard of before.
The bread budding and cortado were delicious and there was almost too many lovely looking options to make up my mind. I can see why the line out of this place is always so long.
Also, not a normal thing in my reviews, but the bathrooms were both clean and also really cute(?!) they clearly put some effort into this place.
Super nice staff and reasonable pricing for the quality.
Best sourdough around. And I live by Bread Alley in DC!!!
Food and service are way better than they need to be.
An absolute institution in the community!
Dont skip the cheesecake or any of the sandwiches!!
Please note that they did not address the matter in their reply. My frustration is irrelevant. The price is irrelevant. I bought and paid for two biscuits with a butter and jam each. I received two biscuits with a jam each (two biscuit, two jam). The order was clearly displayed in PoS (“register’s”) screen. I had confirmation from another that I was not mistaken. When confronted, they denied I ever ordered the butter.
This establishment is sloppy in how they operate. They are clearly sloppy in their response to the matter. They charged me for a product that was never delivered.
If you want great bread with better service and coffee, please go to Seylou in DC. They mill their flour and the bread fantastic. It is worth the trek.
Original Review:
I ordered two biscuits with a butter and jam each and a pecan chocolate chip cookie. After waiting for what seemed like twenty minutes for the incredibly slow staff to pull the already baked goods sitting on counter and prepackaged condiments, I go to my car to find that they did not provide the butter. The lady at the register who seemed to lack any urgency acknowledged a few times that we wanted both a butter and jam. The lady packing orders who probably lacked more urgency apparently said she only saw one order for butter. Mind you, they tied the upcharged condiments to the order of two biscuits and included two jam servings. Do not be fooled. Their long lines are not because they have that much business, it is because the staff at the register is slow and dawdles and the staff packaging the orders is frankly slow. The lady at the register sees the line wrapping inside but pauses to converse with the customers, contemplate the PoS terminal’s operation, or seemingly daydream. I would not be this upset if they at least delivered the order that I paid for. They literally swindled me on the upcharge of a butter. That is after suffering anxiety of remembering my restaurant days where I was expected to work fast.
I’m not even a ginger snap cookie kind of girl, but their ginger molasses cookie?? Unreal. Don’t skip the baked goods.
My go-to orders are the chicken sliders, Caesar salad, and the fig jam and goat cheese sandwich.
I’ll happily keep making the drive because I know the food will always be that good. Manifest Bread has my heart (and my gas money).
