It was our first time dining here and while the food and service were non-remarkable, but the atmosphere is where they lost stars from me. First, it was a cold wintery night and we were sat literally by the main entrance next to the garage door. Every time someone walked in, a cold breeze would blast at us! At times, patrons would just hold the door open for others to walk in or out. Yup, an entire night of cold air during our meal. Further, there isn’t much privacy here, tables are literally shoulders to shoulders to the table next to you. So if you want a quiet and a private conversation, this is not the place for you. On top of that, their actual chairs and tables are less impressive than the chairs and tables you’ll find more quality at Ross Park Mall’s food court. Not sure we’d drive 40 minutes to come back. Time will tell and we’ll be sure to request a table away from the main door next time.

The food here is delicious and the portions are perfect. The table bread is really good , but the focaccia bread was to die for ! The pasta is homeade it tasted like it was made that day.

(Make reservations) …Very friendly environment. Casual yet respectful. They don’t cram you in – it’s set up with just enough tables. It’s a simple decor and vibe, food is the attraction as it should be in a restutant. The owner was very attentive: he greated us, checked in a few times and shook my hand as we exited. Feels like your back at grandma’s for Sunday dinner and im sure thats one of their goals. Our server, Marlee, was so sweet. Recommended some things and paid just the right amount of attention to us. We ate calamari, and arancini to start and pollo alla milanese and pasta alla norcina Portion size was great. Food was delicious, authentic, homemade and served hot! We’ll be back, probably on a Sunday to pay hommage to the Sundays with my own grandma.

I’ve given this restaurant a five because 15 minutes before closing they still seated us and gave us good service. However, I was surprised that the restaurant did not stay open later, especially for Sewickley light up night. We were a vendor there and cold and hungry, restaurants need to stay open longer.
We were a bit rushed in ordering but still had excellent service.
Overall the food was good. Bread was amazing, the calamari was very crispy and the peppers had a good kick. Our friend loved the polenta and she’s 100% Italian. The Bolognese was good, but I felt the pastas could have been cooked a few more seconds and I like al dante. My husband’s eggplant appetizer was not fully cooked but they did take it off our bill. The owner was very nice and apologized about the eggplant.
Overall, I think the food is better now than the previous owners.
We will go back and give it another try when it’s not 15 minutes to closing.

Mambo Italia is absolutely worth the drive if you love fresh, authentic Italian food.
From the moment you walk in, the smell alone tells you you’ve found something special. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the owners truly care — checking in often and making you feel like family.
Everything we had was incredible — the pasta, pizzas, and ravioli with bolognese were all perfectly done and full of flavor. The attention to detail really shows.
The flourless chocolate cake was unforgettable — rich, smooth, and tasted like a pure chocolate truffle on the inside.
This place gets busy for a reason, so plan ahead — but it is 100% worth it. We’ll definitely be back.

This was legit the best Italian meal I’ve had outside of Italy! The waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations! I had gnocchi with meatballs, the gnocchi was amazing, it wasn’t dense but more of a fluffy yet filling. The meatballs were delicious. Joe was extremely friendly and made sure everything was perfect (which it was). They have a cannoli pizza which is a unique treat. If you want a delectable Italian dinner in Pittsburgh Mambo Italia is THE place to go!

We had a wonderful first experience at Mambo Italia. Going in without a reservation, we didn’t expect to be seated quickly considering it was a full house when we arrived. The owner went above and beyond to get us a table immediately. Our server was incredibly kind and responsive. The owner was beyond personable, checking on each one of the tables to make sure everyone was comfortable. He was an extremely easy guy to get along with. It was a wonderful experience met with even better food. From their bread, to the entrees, and eventually dessert, it was all authentically delicious. The portions were beyond generous; my wife and I both left with leftovers. I couldn’t recommend this place more. I can’t wait to go back.

Both of the owners we have met are incredibly kind, and the food is insane good. They take such pride in ownership, and passion in delivering amazing cuisine; it’s easy to tell. Pasta isn’t “mush” like we have gotten at most other Italian restaurants, it’s perfect. Everything is *chef’s kiss*! Just know to bring your own bottle of wine if that matters to your dining experience, it’s currently BYOB.

Cute little spot in Sewickley. Great when it is nice out and the doors are open. Had the peppers, the sausage, spaghetti and meatballs and the table side bread. The bread was amazing the meatballs were very soft. The entrees were good. Didn’t realize that they were BYOB. Wish they had that at the top of the online menu. The atmosphere is nice. Overall I would totally go back.

Great Italian food, real old-fashioned Italian restaurant atmosphere. The owner Joe is always on the floor and kitchen making sure everyone is happy! My first time here but my Brother Joe and wife are regulars here. Great meatballs and especially the homemade tiramisu!
