We came here for lunch today and had a different kind of experience! We were seated immediately! We had to wait a little while for our waiter to bring us drinks. The waitress was sweeping around our table as we were enjoying the chips, salsa and queso! Why does staff need to sweep with customers enjoying their meal? Our margaritas were very watered down, all we could taste was the strawberry mix! Then our waiter made a smart remark about working for tips! If we had to ask for silverware and noticed you were more attentive to other customers that came in after our party did, that would be an excellent explanation as to why you didn’t receive a tip!

Was seated in a booth and ordered Peruvian Paella with ice tea. Complimentary chips with salsa and queso were delivered to the table. Background music was a mix of Spanish pop and older Spanish traditional classics. My plate was delivered in short time and was piping hot. The mix of seafood in this dish was good and loaded with flavor. The portions were enough for two. Everything I tasted was delicious. I enjoyed my meal and had a good dining experience here.

Mamaveca in Norman delivers exactly what you want from a great neighborhood Mexican restaurant. The food is authentic, portions are huge, and the meal starts strong with complimentary chips, salsa, queso, and warm tortillas brought straight to the table. The green salsa is especially good and worth trying, but it is spicy.
I ordered the tacos de la casa with steak and they were excellent. One tip: ask them to go light on the cilantro if that is your preference. They are generous with the amount unless told to hold back. The beer is ice cold and served in a large mug with a lime. The atmosphere feels like a traditional Mexican spot, but with a unique and welcome twist. Mamaveca also features Peruvian dishes and decor, which adds character and variety without feeling out of place. Solid food, generous service, and a distinctive vibe make this a place worth returning to.

You need to eat here… this is not your typical Mexican restaurant. It doesn’t look like much when you drive up, but I believe it’s the best Mexican food I’ve ever had (and I’ve been to Mexico a few times). I haven’t tried the Peruvian food there yet, but I definitely will!!
We ate here yesterday, and the service was quick and friendly. Restaurant, tables, booths were clean. The food was out of this world. Next-level taste. I had Paola’s special, which was basically fajita filling topped with cheese. The steak was tender, the veggies perfectly cooked and not smothered in oil. But whatever they marinated or cooked it in just kicked it up too my list of incredible meals. It looked simple, but tasted 5-Star. Also a scoop of Fresh guacamole!! My mouth is watering just thinking about all that, I definitely need to go back.
Try this. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

I ordered the lunch combination with a beef enchilada sour cream sauce and a taco. Sides were corn and rice. Food tasted good. Was hot when served. Chips and salsa along with cheese was all good. Very mild which is the way I like them. Salsa had excellent flavor. Restaurant was very clean and the service was great.

Made another trip to Norman for an appointment and decided to grab lunch at Mamaveca just down the street from the doc’s office. Absolutely the best Lomito Saltado I’ve had so far and it was the dish of the day. Mama’s Quesadilla was huge and the margarita was awesome. Service and food was great and the atmosphere was spot on. Kudos to the owner who waited and served us. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Very, VERY friendly staff. Chips were ok, salsa was good & fresh. Yellow cheese sauce was bland, but the entrees were pretty tasty. Was a bit pricey for 3 of us dining, but the margaritas weren’t watered down or small. Many flavors to choose from too.

The restaurant is just amazing, the ceviche, papahuancaina and chicken Saltado were just out of this world, not to mention the drink I had. Customer service was also great. Definetly worth the 1hour twenty five minutes drive..our waiter Nicholas was on point, definitely a place to check out if you are ever around the area…

It’s very hard to find GOOD Peruvian cuisine anywhere in the Midwest area. I was very skeptical about a Mexican/Peruvian restaurant.
However, the food was very authentic! I had the ceviche pescado and that is not easy to get right. The leche de tigre was on point! Fresh! The lomo saltado was equally as good and had that Peruvian authentic flavor.
I WILL be back for more of their other dishes!

I recently took out a classic dish of “enchiladas”. I used to like this place more. Probably due to pinches in food costs and other things, this place has moved away from better quality and content and moved toward CARBS. Like so many other restaurants of this type, instead of keeping the better ingredients and portions of quality items, they’ve opted to just give LOTS of tortillas, chips and such, and then REDUCE even the beans with your dish. So 4 tablespoons of beans, but 3 warm tortillas and like 3 hands full of chips. TINY cups of salsa, and almost no flavor on any of it. Not even some jalapenos. Sorry, but this has gone DOWNHILL from a couple of years ago.
