The food and drinks were all intentional and cooked to perfection. I especially enjoyed the tropical cocktails on menu and the perfect dirty martini. Also, shout out to the octopus appetizer. It melts in your mouth when you eat it and isn’t rubbery at all. We loved our entrees. And the pearl dessert is a must!
We were also grateful for the personal touches of a message on the table and the willingness of our server to answer our questions and to share about the history and architecture of the place.
Everything here is purposeful and at the same time you might not even notice it since it is so effortless.
The drinks are fun and well made, but again >$20 per drink is even steep for someone who frequents the bay area.
overall, it’s worth it to go only once for me. the ambiance is lovely, especially on a nice day. for 2 people, be prepared to spend >$200
We tried for over a year to get reservations which are required. On a whim we stopped by and asked if they could set 2 people and they were able to. It was a Monday evening. And it was busy.
JADE was our waitress and she was absolutely amazing. Her description of the menu items was incredible and made us want 1 of everything on the menu.
Food was absolutely amazing, flavor, balance, presentation all culminated in an incredible dining experience. We did crab cakes, short rib and lobster, and the stuffed fish!!! All were NOT disappointing.
Dessert was the chocolate pearl oyster and lilikoi creme brulee and were an incredible ending.
Well worth at least 1 meal here but plan ahead. They do not normally take walk ins.
I’m visiting as a tourist and came here to celebrate my birthday. When we arrived, the valet was clearly not busy — yet he opened the car door for other guests and did not open it for me. That’s not “they were overwhelmed.” That’s a choice.
Inside, when I was taking a quick photo, the server literally blocked my view with the menu / his body instead of saying “excuse me” or giving us a bit of space. It was rude and unnecessary.
I also mentioned it was my birthday, and there wasn’t even a basic “Happy Birthday,” let alone any warmth or effort to make the experience enjoyable. Taken together, the pattern of being ignored while watching others receive better treatment is hard to interpret as anything other than bias — at best, it’s terrible training; at worst, it feels discriminatory.
To be fair, the food was tasty — but good food doesn’t excuse treating guests this way.
As a visitor to Hawaii, this is not the kind of hospitality I expected. This place made a celebration feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Not coming back. Not recommending.
The space itself is beautiful and thoughtful, right down to the flowers and small historical touches woven throughout. It feels like a place with real soul, not just a restaurant with a view. The cocktails were fantastic, balanced and well made, and clearly taken just as seriously as the food.
It is definitely an institution, but not in a tired or overrated way. It is one of those rare spots that fully earns the hype. Everyone is right to suggest it. If you are in Maui, this is a place you should make sure to experience.
I was a bit skeptical of the restaurant based on the location and the pricing, assuming it was a fancy tourist trap. Boy, was I wrong!
My theory is that the more expensive a restaurant, the more nit picky I would be about everything. And believe me when I say this: I had zero comments other than that everything was executed perfectly and delicious. I had their signature mac nut crusted fish and it was truly delectable. The crab cakes were probably the best I’ve ever had, both light and stuffed full of crab. And the dessert! Well I just want to kidnap their dessert chef! I was truly shocked at how much I truly enjoyed myself. It takes great skill to execute the dishes (especially fish!) that perfectly! I cannot wait to return
I have always loved the Hawaiian Kanpachi encrusted with macadamia nuts and stuffed with crab and lobster. If I remember right when I first had this dish it was mahi-mahi but the last few times it was the Kanpachi and it is amazing.
My son had the short rib and lobster tail and it was amazing. I am almost tempted to change my order next time we visit!
The ambiance is incredible, the service is spot on and the food is always perfectly prepared.
Thank you Christenson Family for another memorable experience.
