Mamajuana Café was born in the year 2000 in Inwood NY with the intention of bringing architecture from the colonial city of the Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and creating a menu combining together the spices of the old world infused with the modern Asian-Infused culinary. Since its inception, this Latin restaurant concept has expanded to 5 locations in New York and New Jersey. I honestly didn’t like the food. I have tasted better. They sell ceviche with no chips or plantains. The fish was too lemony and just not that amazing I’m sorry. Will not be going back. It’s ok but that’s it.

I would give 5 stars for food also, if not for the fact mine was salty a bit. I did notify the host. My waiter Alex was very good. One more suggestion is to make the banana side smaller and a bit softer. Restaurant charges 18% service charges on all bills. Also, the mixed drinks and shots are pricey. Once you add sales tax and service charges, the drinks can cost north of $20. They also have outside seating with heaters. Reservations are recommended on weekends. There’s also a DJ playing latin music. All in all, it’s a very good Dominican restaurant and you can give it a go!

This is for sure the type of place you go to more than once. I’ve been twice and there will definitely be a third. The food is top tier and so is the vibe. The pork chops must be tried at least once. The fish is a classic. The drinks are strong. Definitely one of my all time favorites and I’d recommend it 10 times over.

Just a great experience . Our waiter Sean was super friendly very attentive and made some really great recommendations. Also explained in detail portion sizes of some of the meals and also the cultural significance and ingredients in some. Food was amazing portions were very large as well. The mofonguitos were great. They even gave us free mamajuana shots on the house . I will be back as we all had no complaints at all . Was a great dining experience

We came because we heard through the grapevine that this place was great. The place inside was nice, music was good. We ordered appetizers empanadas trío and mofoguitos. The presentation was good, but the taste was not good. The mofongo was dry and hard. It took about 3 minutes to get our appetizers and a mofongo, in my opinion, it takes a little longer to make it taste good and soft. The Plátano was hard and had no flavor. We had one of each, chicken, beef, and shrimp and none of them were good. The empanadas were the same thing. The dipping sauce was amazing.
We waited for our entrées. It took about 15 minutes to get it. Upon getting the entrées, again the presentation was good, but it was missing flavor. The food came out like warm. My husband ordered a Sancocho and when he got it, no spoon was given. The churrasco was dark and lacked flavor. My pollo a la Cubana was not good. The Moro was lukewarm, my Maduro was put together with the Moro and my chicken tasted very dry and needed seasoning. I am very disappointed. I asked for a sprite and the sprite was flat.

It was our anniversary last week and it was our first time going to Mamajuana and I must say the food and service were INCREDIBLE! I was so impressed with the ambience and with our waitress, Smarlyn (hope I spelled her name correctly). It was Smarlyn’s first day waitressing, and I must give her a shout out because she was so effortless that we would not know she was new! We also met the manager who was very welcoming and kind! The wonderful staff mixed with delicious food is good reason for us to return soon! Thank you for a beautiful evening 🙂

The food was flavorful and enjoyable, though there was room for improvement in some dishes. However, the atmosphere was fantastic, creating a welcoming and pleasant dining experience. The service was also excellent, with attentive and friendly staff that made the evening even more enjoyable.

I must say, I was highly impressed with this establishment. I’ve been meaning to check out this restaurant for quite some time now. I went with my family for my sister’s birthday and we all enjoyed our meals. Mind you, my mom is very hard to please and she even gave the food a compliment, which is a big deal. The food was fresh and seasoned well and drinks were strong. The ambiance was nice as well. It’s definitely a vibe when the DJ comes. Lastly, our server Erika was awesome! I would definitely recommend checking them out.

Excellent food and service! Just as good as the original one in Inwood. Ordered calamari, octopus, camarones al ajillo and paella along with a guava margarita. All were amazing! Octopus was super tender and the paella was a great size for 2. Celebrated my birthday there which meant the entire staff singing along with props. Our waitress, Erika, was friendly and attentive. Will be back!

Thought this place would be fun like the other Mamajuana restaurants. This is a basic sit down and eat establishment. They don’t party or have brunch parties like all the others. This is for the senior citizens or boring crowd. If you want a good time pick any other Mamajuana besides this one, it’s not the brunch party vibe, which no one has in Suffolk County, so you would assume this is it. Just look at how low the reviews and likes are compared to the rest. Thank me later.
