Decided to try this local place out and we were happily surprised! We got two bánh mi sandwiches, two steak pho, the shrimp spring rolls, and two thai iced teas. Everything was above and beyond good. The pho broth was flavorful without being too salty, meat was tender, and the portion size was great! Thai iced tea was not too sweet. This place is legit and Mama Tran will not disappoint you- we will definitely be coming again in the near future.

I ordered a special pho and there are a few hair on the tendon. As what they told me this is the hair from the cow and kitchen said they can’t do anything about it. And I could pick it up just use fingers. If you don’t even wash your meat and put things in the soup , that’s disgusting. 100% not acceptable. The owner who said this can you eat this hair and you think this is normal??? I didn’t even eat my soup still got charged in full. Didn’t get offer re make another one or anything.

Open from 9-9, this cafe has wonderful Vietnamese options including coffee using four barrel coffee. We ordered vermicelli bowls and some Pho bowls among us as well as a crepe with meals and veggies that was also very delicious and not always available at V restaurants. Staff was so sweet and helpful and patient when we couldn’t decide what to eat, because of such an enticing menu! Next time will try the sandwiches and maybe a grilled meat plate. The prices are reasonable and I’d go back with a large group as they have an upstairs area that’s more private. Can’t wait for grilled pork sandwich.

Ordered the shrimp imperial roll, beef brisket pho and bun bo hue. Everything was delicious. I particularly enjoy how clean and fresh the food was. My 4 year old even complimented the chef 😀
Service was great. Atmosphere is relaxing. There are 5 TVs so I’m sure you won’t miss the news, sporting event, etc

Ideally, I would give it 3.5 on 5 stars, since that isn’t an option, I am giving it 4.
Parking can be a challenge, and my experience is with takeout.
Service staff was pleasant and welcoming, food prep time on the quick to very efficient, and food was well presented for takeout.
However, in a city of so many banh-mi’s, this ones middle of the pack, average. It’s solid if you are hungry and happen to be in the area, but not quite special enough to warrant a trip to experience it.
I tried the tofu banh mi and the spring rolls, which had all the trappings you expect. However, my partner pointed out that the ingredients felt lower quality (esp. the bread and tofu), and the pickled carrots were on the sweeter side. It needed a balance.
Would I return? Sure, if I needed a quick snack in a hangry moment, but Banh Mi Love, Dinosaurs and so many other alternatives do a much better job.

I would give only 1.5 and 2.5 starts however that is not an option.
The employee seemed kind and helpful and would receive 2.5 stars however, could’ve told us that the order of four servings would take over an hour so that would bring her back down to 2 stars. There was one single person and one couple sitting in the restaurant and one person came in for their to-go order. The cost seemed fair but not for the portion sizes! The phó and BBQ we craved and waited so patiently for was not found here. Definite let down, this experience strongly reinforced and rekindled our 20yr devotion to the 1st Vietnamese restaurant around the outer Mission and Mission Terrace area. We would’ve ate their exit it was the 1 day they were closed…
Thx to Mama Trans for trying, I wish it could’ve worked out for us…if only we didn’t wait over an hour and just weren’t so dang fangry, sigh.

Was thrilled when I saw the awning go up for this place, as we have no good Vietnamese options in the neighborhood. I’ve been three times now and it’s great food. The prices are reasonable, the Pho has excellent flavor, and the spring rolls are bright and fresh. The space itself is also clean and well-kept.

Authentic and scrumptious Vietnamese food. The spring rolls, divine and the lemon grass anything always a pleasure. The pho has ethnic meats in it like tendons and organs so I find it best to order the just steak version of pho. The crepe is pure heaven too.
