The food did not disappoint. I have been to three other Italian restaurants so far in Bakersfield and this is the best. It is now my favorite Italian restaurant in town.
The food is indeed considered fine dining. It fills and satiates but does not make me feel heavy and uncomfortable afterwards. Compliments to the chef!
The ambiance was also excellent. Lots of space but does not impart a feeling of vacancy. Seats are wooden and tables are simple but elegant. Large window views from the front allow plenty of indirect light which is great because I really never liked those dark restaurant settings.
I grew up and enjoyed decades of dining at the best restaurants and hole-in-the-walls in NYC. This review is based off of that snobby selective taste profile.
I do hope my sharing draws many more to this fine dining establishment that has been around for over 40 years.
You will not be disappointed.
The food was excellent. The bread!!!! Warm…great crust but extremely light and airy interior. Incredible. I saw some of the disparaging reviews but frankly, there wasn’t a person who wasn’t impressed with their dish in our group. We ordered the gamut…zucchini flowers, folded truffle pasta, calamari, insalto misto. The Lobster pasta, Osso bucco, and linguini with clam were favorites. I would not hesitate recommending people to dine here, particularly for a date night or special occasion.
Atmosphere gave off upscale vibes which was nice. The problem was…it was too dark to read the menu. Most of my group had to use our phones light to read it. There was candles at our table, but they weren’t lit.
The food was lackluster at best. Over priced and severely lacking in flavor. Portion sizes were beyond small. I understand that in upscale restaurants you don’t pay for the size of the dish. You pay for the quality of the dish. I would’ve expected my lasagna to taste better then the frozen stuff you bake in your over. SMH
Our server was good and attentive. The bus boy on the other hand…he needed help. Literally. He couldn’t figure out how to open the door to our room(we had a large group).
I wouldn’t recommend. Save your money and go to Olive garden. Food tastes better and you’ll leave more satisfied.
I have more to say, but this review is already too long.
P.s. Please upgrade your menus. You can’t charge this much and have me order out of the same type menu Denny’s uses.
Attended a work Christmas party. Definitely felt like punishment having to eat here.
Appetizers were cold. We thought the mozzarella balls were meatballs they were so tough.
Fancy napkins does not make tasty food.
Pretty sad when your leaving a restaurant saying hurry up and let’s get home because I’m starving and need something to eat.
Food is absolutely horrible, apps were cold and gross, our dinner wasn’t even edible.
So crazy that servers took full plates of uneaten food without questioning, like it’s normal to come pay top dollar and just throw it away.
Only thing that was good was my 20$ 3 oz pour of wine..
Save yourself don’t come here ever!!!
