What a pleasant surprise!! We stayed in a tiny home (located above the speakeasy) and were so happy to find a place so close ***literally under our feet*** to watch football and have a special beverage! We had a little tour about the history of the speakeasy on the way down and it was like we were taken back to a magical era! The decor is so beautiful and comfortable. The staff is so nice and food was delicious!!! We can’t wait to return to this surprise piece of paradise!

It’s such a cool spot! It looks like a murder site on the outside, gotta go down steep concrete stairs with pipes for handles, but then once you turn the corner… Voila! Gold, blue, red, and velvety luxury! Fantastic cocktails and awesome shows, too! They’ve got comedy, burlesque, belly dancing, drag… so much fun!

This is the greatest underground speakeasy bar ever! So many activities there the drinks are great. The staff is wonderful. The food is glorious and all the different activities they have you can’t beat it. The owners of the speakeasy are very involved and I just love it love it. They have many different types of shows and it actually looks like a true true speakeasy with some very very interesting decor of the 20s and 30s and the drinks are so cool should come and have a great time, and maybe you’ll see me there

This unusual venue is a genuine underground speakeasy that you enter through a secret doorway. The bar is antique, with a mysterious history. The atmosphere is pure escape with vintage furniture and an aesthetic of the 1920s. Drinks are mixed fresh by a friendly staff. Food is available, featuring dishes that go beyond typical pub grub.
Mama Merlot’s has lots of events as well, from live music, drag and burlesque shows, comedy, and even things more ghostly and mysterious.
The venue is members-only, but becoming a member is not difficult or expensive. A day-membership is included with any ticket purchase for the drive-in movie theatre above ground. This makes it a great place to be if you want to get away. Everyone here wants to be here.

This has become my favorite place to hang out. The staff is awesome. The atmosphere is amazing. The best performers find their way to this space. It is the hidden gem of Buda. Huge thank you to the owners for creating and sharing such a special place. Become a member, you won’t regret it.

You can go to the speakeasy without having a movie ticket or watching the movie, it’s totally worth it to just pop in for a cocktail sometime.
