I’ve found my new favorite spot! Had the most incredible meal at Mama Birds Southern Kitchen by Ascent Hospitality Group in Jordan Landing and I’m already planning my next visit.
Let’s talk about the fried chicken tenders~ Seriously, if this recipe ever got out, it would be game over for all the fast-food chains. They were that good! Crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. The only thing that could make them better? Washing them down with a refreshing watermelon sweet lemonade ~A perfect combo! ✨
A big shoutout to our server, Lisa, who was so attentive and made our experience wonderful. I also loved the vibe in there – you could feel the excitement as everyone was peeking over the booths to see all the amazing dishes coming out of the kitchen.
This place is an absolute must-visit~I can’t wait to bring my out-of-town friends here to show them what a real Southern kitchen is all about! You won’t be disappointed.

Management handled a problem with one of our dishes quickly. The food was really good and everything seems to be made in house. The Mac n cheese was tasty, as well as their batter on the fried chicken, chicken strips, and fried pickles. The sweet tea is crazy good, and their gingerbeer flight was fun – the jalapeño one is intense and definitely something I’d get in the future to knock out a cold. Overall I’d love to come back and everything was yummy.

We ordered alcoholic drinks from the menu, including the cherry orange mimosa and the Smoke Show whiskey drink. The drinks themselves were good, though drink service was a bit slow. Food service, however, was well paced once we were seated.
We started with the hush puppies, which were absolutely delicious and a great way to kick things off. I chose breakfast for my meal and had the chicken fried steak with potato succotash and a hummingbird muffin. My husband ordered the brisket burger with a mix of regular fries and sweet potato fries. All of the food came out hot, well prepared, and nicely presented. The flavors were good overall, though a few items were slightly over seasoned and a bit salty for our taste.
Our server, David, was friendly and checked in on us often, which we appreciated. One small miss was that our water glasses were not refilled during the meal. We were also pleasantly surprised to have both the general manager and assistant manager stop by our table to check on our dining experience, which shows they genuinely care about their guests.
The dining area itself is warm, comfortable, and inviting. We came in for a late lunch and were initially told the wait would be about 45 minutes. About 20 minutes into the wait, we were called and told our table was ready, so we had to hurry back, but we were happy to be seated sooner than expected.
We’re excited that Mama Bird will be offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and we’re looking forward to coming back to try more items on the menu. It’s refreshing to have a restaurant that prepares and cooks everything from scratch, and we’re glad to have a spot like this in West Jordan.
