We came here for a nice meal during restaurant week and were not disappointed. The food was bursting with flavor and I’d highly recommend the crab tartine as well as the signature dish- the duck & the scallops. The service was really attentive and we were also provided with a special amuse bouche from the chef. Coffee & cigarettes is a must for dessert. Highly recommend! The atmosphere and decorations are also very fun.

It was restaurant week and as a diner you are able to choose from one item from small plates or starters and one main along with one dessert for $55. It was a great way to try out the many tasty options. The food was beautifully presented and tasted even better. Great flavors and textures. They also had many choices for wines, beers, and non-alcoholic drinks.

Great experience. Kind and friendly staff. We have a NYE 4-course. My favorite is the shrimp, well-cooked and sauce is super tasty. Also, their dessert is really good. I really recommend to try their bread pudding. Foie-gras and duck dumpling sauce is little bit salty for me, however it is savory.
Street parking is hard to find, so we just park at garage.

Phenomenal duck – best dish I’ve had all year. All other dishes we tried were also spectacular. And the cocktails too! My new favorite restaurant in town. Service was impeccable as well – our waiter understood our specific dietary restrictions very well and the kitchen was able to accommodate effectively.

Had a wonderful dinner at Mallard last night!! This was our first time there, but we will definitely be back again soon. The dining room and bar were gorgeous, and the plateware was so fun and on theme. The team was outstanding! The manager, Becks, was so welcoming and personable. Our server, Liv, was super attentive and offered great recommendations. And Chef Hamilton, who even came out and spoke to us, is really doing amazing and innovative things in the kitchen!!

Finally, the food and drinks were devine!!! Seriously, everything we tasted was outstanding. I loved the fried oysters, but my boyfriend’s favorite was the foie gras. We both ordered a “Drinkin Dark Wiskey” and cannot recommend it enough. Overall just a wonderful experience and we will be back to try more!!!

Amazing atmosphere, service, and food! Our server Lauren made the night even better with some stellar recommendations and cocktails. Such a perfect date night. Order the dumplings, oysters, and catfish if you can! We loved them all.

Great spot for a last-minute reservation for six. The restaurant was less crowded than usual, probably because of August in DC. We ordered almost everything on the menu to try, and while the service was phenomenal, the dishes were a bit hit or miss. Cocktails were mixed—one bourbon with strawberry was overly sweet, while the rye had good flavor but felt weak. So stick with wine. For appetizers, the duck wings and sweetbreads were excellent, though others fell flat (fried oysters were too salty, pork dumplings were bland, and the pea dish was odd). For entrées, I had high hopes for the duck but it didn’t quite deliver. The highlights were definitely the shrimp and grits and the fried tomatoes. Overall, the food tends to run saltier than usual.

This place is great. Food is good, service is great and the ambience perfect and quiet enough to have a conversation. My meal was very hot when brought to my table which means it was recently prepared. I will definitely be going back. I had the fried fish and it was delish! Cheers to the chef.

My wife and I had a fantastic date night here. I had the chicken and dumplings and she had the shrimp and grits. Both were bursting with flavor and were incredible with every bite. We highly recommend stopping in.

We also had the pimento cheese starter and it was wonderful too.

One of my favorites. Mallard is a standout. Chef Hamilton Johnson trained for years under James Beard Award winner Jeffrey Buben at Vidalia, where he rose to chef de cuisine. He brings those southern roots forward with dishes that are both deeply flavorful and excellent value. The space is stylish and reflects the spirit of the menu. Service is relaxed yet professional, making the whole experience memorable.
