Went to the Seafood Festival at Hobart. Decided to have sit down lunch at Mako.
Ordered the Fish Plater.
The crumbled scallop, prawns and flake were not oily but dry.
The Blue Grenadier was oily. I used the serviette to soak up some oil. It had a better texture and flavour than the flake.

Delicious, fresh seafood – minimal coeliac safe options. It was extremely busy when we were here, but the guy was incredible! It was a one-man show, but he just got in with things in a seamless, efficient manner – cooked very tasty, fresh food and managed to prioritise tasks excellently. I was impressed, definitely couldn’t have done that. The prawns and scallops were unbelievable! Recommend.

The restaurant is in a fantastic location right on the edge of the ferry terminal. What makes it especially unique is that the shops are built on floating houses and boats, creating a very interesting atmosphere. There’s a lovely view from the table overlooking the harbour. The menu offers a great selection of fish and chips and fresh oysters, all of which were very enjoyable.

Absolutely beautiful food. We ordered the share platter and our fish was cooked to perfection. Chips thick cut and divine! Scallops sweet and prawns succulent. Everything was really enjoyable. 10/10

First time coming here because of First Table. Really well priced – both with discount and without. They serve Bruny island oysters here – a must as they are very amazing. The seafood are very fresh, leaving a beautiful sweet aftertaste and I really love the batter- feels like crumbed but not too crunchy, also not greasy at the same time. Would come back if we are in Hobart!

Great location at Constitution Dock with view across to Mawson’s Hut Replica. Fresh seafood including local Bruny oysters (large compared to Sydney rock oysters), fish and chips (vinegar) and calamari that melts in your mouth. Cooked and served by great staff in a floating cafe setting or takeaway. Definitely worth visiting

We just got some takeaway on a Monday night. The scallops couldn’t be smaller and the blue eye fish was dry, like bad chicken breast. Really expected better for the price. Only decent bit was the calamari.

I tried the seafood chowder, but unfortunately it wasn’t what I expected.
The taste was a bit odd, and it wasn’t creamy like a traditional chowder — more like a thickened soup.
There were only a small amount of seafood, mostly just fish and potatoes.
For $16, it didn’t feel great value.
I wouldn’t order the seafood chowder again.
