Serene atmosphere, great food. I literally cannot get enough of the handrolls (spicy scallop) and the various cut ups. As you can see, this is my favorite hidden gem in NYC.

Five stars is genuinely an understatement for this place! I have to shout out how absolutely amazing the maki and hand rolls are here. Every piece was perfectly constructed, incredibly fresh, and the slightly warm, seasoned rice was spot on—a sign of quality I always look for.
The hand rolls, in particular, are next-level; they melt in your mouth and are clearly made with the highest quality fish. If you’re a sushi lover, this spot is a must-try just for the hand rolls alone. Fast service and a great atmosphere, too! I’ll be back weekly.

I ordered the Standard Combo (Spicy Scallop, Spicy Tuna, and Spicy Salmon handrolls with miso soup & edamame) and was very happy with my meal. The ingredients tasted fresh, and everything was well-prepared. I felt the combo was worth the price, and I would definitely reorder. Looking forward to trying more of their rolls and options next time!

This restaurant has a very novel way of serving sushi I havent seen before. It felt like I was eating an ice cream cone lol. The yellowfin tuna is probably the first real sushi that didn’t bother me with the mouthfeel either.

I have eaten a lot of maki, chirashi, temaki hand rolls, and nigiri across asia pacific.
MakiMaki has good quality ingredients, but it is either an American style or the rice here is not seasoned.
The hand roll had a vague hint of the rice being seasoned at the base of the roll. The maki had no seasoning and neither did the toro chirashi bowl.
At this price point a basic error like this is an easy one to 1.5 stars off. The balance is thrown off.

Ordering ahead on their website makes pickup a breeze, but dining in is just as delightful! This time, I opted for their hand roll combo and cut-up roll combo, both of which were a treat. What sets Maki Maki apart is their attention to detail – from the freshness of their ingredients to their crisp hand rolls, every bite was perfection. Plus, they go the extra mile by offering edamame and miso soup with their combos, adding an extra touch of satisfaction to the meal. As someone who’s gluten-sensitive, I also appreciate their efforts to cater to dietary needs. Run, don’t walk! Friendliest staff guaranteed to aid my mood no matter what the day is like working in midtown Manhattan. Spoiler alert- I am often stressed during my visits and always feel better leaving Maki. They truly know what they’re doing here when it comes to the world of hand rolls (and cut rolls too, for that matter) but nothing like a $13 super fresh toro hand roll in crispy seaweed to take on the go, reminiscent of the Japanese fish markets in Tokyo. S-tier, and a must if hungry in the area.
