I don’t usually give low reviews but my friend and I were excited to come to this place and honestly the experience we had was disappointing. The employees were fine but when it came to adding sides we were met by a woman who looked like she hated her job. She had a frown on her face and rolled her eyes a couple times even though we were ordering normally. She also didn’t ask my friend if she wanted tomatoes and wonton crisps on her salad even though the other employee asked me. The food was fine, I’m not an expert but I believe this place wasn’t really Hawaiian but more Hawaiian inspired and a mix of other Asian foods (kimchi slaw, teriyaki chicken/steak). The rice was mushy because they had added too much water and the steak was too salty. Other than that, the chicken was pretty good.

Excellent service. Great food. I got a medium plate with chicken Katsu and fried chicken. The Kimchea and macaroni salad were tasty and fresh. The portion size was perfect for the price and the service was fast. Visit on 1/8 @ 7:19 pm

On Tuesday February 24, 2026 at approximately 4:40pm I visited Makai and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. When we walked in, the restaurant was completely empty except for 2–3 employees. We were not greeted or acknowledged for about one to two minutes while the tall female employee behind the counter continued working without looking up or saying a word. She had an annoyed look on her face as if we were not welcome. A simple “Hi, I’ll be right with you” would have gone a long way. Customer service sets the tone for the entire experience, and sadly we did not feel welcomed. We chose to leave and dine elsewhere. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as first impressions matter.

Worst Makai in Las Vegas! The portion sizes for a large bowl were equivalent to a small at other Makai’s, believe me I literally left and went to another location to confirm it! The staff was disrespectful and couldn’t even be bothered when I asked for anything. I put my loyalty number in and had an almost $9 discount that they didn’t even offer for me to use. I will never visit this location again nor will I waste anyone else’s time and money sending them here… I’ll drive the extra 5-10 minutes.

I had never been to Makai before and will likely not return. They wouldn’t allow me to sample anything before I purchased it. The employee went back to ask the manager for an exception and was denied. The manager didn’t even bother to come speak with me. How cheap is Makai that they can’t allow a small sample for a first-time customer? Food was decent, but there are other establishments with equal or better food quality and superior customer service I’d rather spend my money at.

So first off, I love this place, the food is great every single time. I just came in on a Tuesday night, an hour and a half before closing to order 4 plates for my family, and the woman behind the counter made a face and rudely asked “White rice or brown?” I replied “White rice for all please.” She proceeded to angrily scoop out rice and I just said, “You know what, forget it love, sorry to bother you. I’m good.” I had to walk out of there. I get it, food service sucks, but you shouldn’t treat customers like that. So I won’t be coming back in for awhile.

Food was hot and the service was friendly. The pork was soft and juicy, but the chicken teriyaki had been sitting for a little too long. All in all for the price, the food was good. Nice size portions.

I use to go to this location all the time, was so good and consistent. Today I felt the food was not as good and they loaded me up on the proteins that come with a bowl but when I paid extra for steak they definitely did not match the portion size of the other proteins, so im alittle upset with this location tonight.

Placed an order for pick up (through uber eats) at 8:15pm. I went to pick up my food at around 8:30pm and when I told them my name they said they had nothing from Uber. I looked around as she was looking at the tablet and realized all of their food was put away and they were mopping. I did not argue with them and even asked if they had other locations I could pick up the food from. I then mentioned to the workers that Uber was going to try to call them to confirm the issue in order for me to receive my refund. She said she would answer the call. My car was parked right in front of the door and I have a dash cam (if any proof is needed) and I called uber eats. Uber said they would call the store and I watched the worker pick up the phone, talk for about 5 seconds, and then disconnect the phone. Uber rep had to apologize because the worker hung up on her as she was talking. Uber asked me to go inside, at this point it was around 8:45pm, and both doors were locked by the other worker right before I tried to go in. Thankfully I still received my refund but it was very frustrating. If you’re going to close at 8pm, then change the hours. I drove over 30 minutes and had to deal with that whole experience for nothing.

I had a lovely experience here the lady who took my order was zoe and she was very polite, i can tell shes a hard worker. Food was great and atmosphere was great aswell. Would come back!
