Nice beachy island vibe, outdoors eating mostly. Food was good, but stingy mahi in tacos. Tasty crab cakes. Two bathrooms, always a lineup. But…the drink prices are ridiculous, example $10 Coors Light 16 oz. AND watch out for the automatic Tips of 20% on everything. Mangos a mile away much more reasonable prices and transparency. Great dockhands but wear shoes, poopy docks!

First time visiting North Captiva Island. We stopped in for lunch and were very happy with our meal. Easy to dock our 33 ft. boat.

The location is convenient if you’re staying on the island, but the overall experience left a lot to be desired. One of the biggest issues is that there are no prices listed on the menu, which makes it difficult to know what to expect. Our order was fairly simple—two fish tacos, two burgers, and four drinks—yet the total came to $298, which was surprising and hard to justify given the offering.

While the setting is nice and it may be one of the limited options on the island, there are many better restaurants accessible by boat that offer stronger value and transparency. Unfortunately, based on this experience, it’s unlikely I’ll return.

A nice location that I visited while visiting the gulf coast. Food was decent, drinks were cold, and overall a pleasurable experience. Visited by boat and had plenty of dock space. Walked up to bar area where we ordered drinks and started tab and walked up to a table to sit for lunch. While we got out food, ended up walking up to bar for another drink. While this part falls on me, did not pay close attention to the bill and realized they tagged on a service fee, which was essentially the tip. I generously tipped on the total balance, not realizing tip was included. Once back at home, attempted to contact the location and never heard back. While it clearly falls on me, think it is crappy when locations tag on service fees for small groups. Mix in a few cocktails, and pretty sure I’m not the only person who fell for this. Don’t mind paying island pricing, however the added service charge is annoying especially when you are pretty much expected to walk up to bar and order your drinks. Guess the servers had a good tip day. Would probably go back, but would be more attentive to the tip surcharge. Did attempt to resolve the matter by filling out the contact us part on their web page but had no luck.

I was researching restaurants on the waterfront for my guests before offering them a place for lunch. I found this place on Google Maps; it wasn’t very good, but I took a chance and went there.
The first thing the waiter or bartender told me was that the internet wasn’t working and that they didn’t accept credit cards, only cash. The food was like fast food. Terrible. The cocktails were decent, but they cost over $25 a pop. The service was terrible: you had to find a fork and knife yourself or ask for them. Furthermore, they immediately charged a service charge without asking. I highly not recommend this place; go at your own risk.

I gave this place three stars because no amount of ambience can make up for a $30 to $40 mediocre cocktail served to you in a plastic cup.
Boated over with a friend, we sat at the bar and each had a margarita.
The Margarita was fine, not bad, not excellent. The drinks are served to you in a standard size plastic cup.
I was absolutely floored when it came time to pay the bill and be on our way.
Both drinks were $34 a piece. Throw in a tip, and the total bill for two mediocre cocktails was $75.
I don’t even know how this place stays in business with prices like that. It’s not like they’re offering anything extraordinarily special as far as food and drinks.
The only reason it wasn’t one star is because the location really is excellent. It’s fun to boat up to a bar, walk across the sand, and sit at a bar stool in the sun while looking at the water. That’s what you’re paying for I guess.

We were really disappointed with our recent visit to Barnacles after many years of loving this place. Unfortunately, the food just wasn’t good this time, especially the burgers, which were a letdown. Prices were also pretty high.. perhaps wouldn’t have thought of it if the food and service were good though.

Ordering at the bar is totally fine, but the bartender was not very friendly, which set the tone. We also didn’t realize there was a service charge added to the bill until later, after reading other reviews and double-checking ours, that should be made much clearer.

On a positive note, the deckhand was awesome, and the person who brought out our food was very sweet and pleasant.

Overall, it was disappointing, especially after such great memories here in the past. Sadly, this visit didn’t live up to what Barnacles used to be for us.

We stood in line for 20 minutes to order our food. We then waited 45 minutes to get our food. The line for bathroom was over 10 minutes. Apparently, this is the norm, an ordinary Saturday. The staff were all nice enough, the food was just okay. A burger, 3 fish tacos and 8 drinks came to $310 without tip. We all agreed we would never go back.

Pretty cool place. Spent a LONG time standing in line to get drinks. I suggest a better system to get drinks. Maybe add another line for ppl to get just beer and seltzers (drinks with fast turnover)…. and keep a separate line to make mixed drinks….. and use signage to label the lines. Food was pretty good and efficient.

Wouldn’t have expected to have such great food, awesome bartender service, and nice beach vibe three days in a row here when the island is so quiet. We came for a few days in November and were the only couple at the bar on two of the nights. The grouper sandwich is excellent – brioche bun surprisingly fresh every night. Prices are a bit high. I liked the music. Service is fast.
