We have visited before but under different owners. Our first time with the current management. Really nice family diner. We were there for breakfast so got the usual pancakes, French toast, eggs, bacon and sausage. One in our party got a BLT and jalapeno poppers. The bacon was really a generous amount. The pastry looked great and I ended up getting a slice of chocolate creme pie. It was excellent. Yes, I know not necessarily a breakfast food but still good. We will have to come back to check out lunch and dinner.

Gateway diner is much much better and I know they are owned by the same people . We have been to both locations and this time was very disappointing. Took 45 minutes to get silverware just to stir our coffee, my husband was given the wrong meal, our son asked for whip cream on his Mickey Mouse pancakes like it normally comes they took his plate back and just sprayed it all over like they didn’t care. My grits came out ice cold and you can tell it was sitting. They took it back stirred it and said it was fresh. Waitress was making excuses on they was busy. I get that but we are also paying customers so focus your attention all on tables. Asked for poached eggs and they came out completely hard in the middle in a bowl..

This restaurant location has struggled to find a solid owner with quality food and service. I was really pleasantly surprised when we tried The Main Street Diner this morning. The restaurant was bright and cheerful and the staff was friendly and attentive. I got pancakes with bacon and my husband had eggs with home fries. We didn’t have to wait long for our food. Everything was good with the exception of the bacon. Some of it was barely cooked while other pieces were burnt, but that was the only issue with the meal. We will definitely be back to try lunch and dinner!

I took my wife here to try it out for the first time today. Let me start off by saying that nothing here was necessarily BAD. The seats were comfortable and at a good height for the table and the temperature was great. The atmosphere however, felt like a big, loud, clunky buffet. Open air, high ceiling and extremely bright. Personally i like a quiet dimly lit atmosphere. But this was more than bright. Id say way too bright! Noises echoing and dishes clanking mixing with the loud conversations all around us made it hard to relax.
We started with mozzarella sticks and 2 orders of french onion soup. My wife’s soup came out right away but unfortunately the other soup and mozzarella sticks didn’t come out until the rest of the food came out. Big bummer. This just felt like it loaded the whole table with dishes. The mozzarella sticks were very disappointing. The outside was sort of crunchy but way too soft. The cheese while melty at first had an odd freezer burnt sort of taste and hardened up within minutes. Seems to be a very low quality item. Id say 1.5 out of 5 at best.
Onto the soup, while being presented very well with the toasted cheese on top dripping over the classic brown bowl, the extreme amount of butter was very distasteful. We could see the bubbles of butter fat floating on top of the soup. Could barely stomach it. There weren’t too many onions and thats a plus, but there could have definitely been more bread chunks. Id say keep up the presentation but add bread and cut way down on the butter and this 1.5 out of 5 soup could easily be a 4/5 soup.
Onto the main courses i got the country fried steak with baked potato and my wife got the blt. She was pretty happy with her blt. The lettuce while crisp and fresh was very abundant, The tomatoes were crisp and juicy, The bread could be toasted a bit more but was nice and fresh. However the bacon was almost tasteless while slightly rubbery. Also there wasn’t very much bacon on the sandwich at all. Id say there needs to be less lettuce, more bacon, and a better quality of bacon. As is for the blt id have to say 3 out of 5.
As for the country fried steak, the sausage gravy had an extremely heavy sausage flavor, i could barely taste any steak over it, but was a good consistency. Slightly runny but ok. Id say low quality steak and too much sausage, id give it a 2 out of 5.
The baked potato was cooked well but presented very poorly with 2 butter packets, 1 sour cream packet and it was still in the tin foil. Would have been much better topped with fresh ingredients and taken out of the wrapper. Presentation needs improved here as well as fresh sour cream, butter, and maybe add some bacon bits or a green garnish. As is id say 2.5 out of 5.
For desert we decided to share a slice of their strawberry shortcake. The cake was a little dry but it had a great flavor and was overall very good. 4/5 for the strawberry shortcake.
As far as the service goes, they are very friendly. When we requested a window seat the hostess was happy to oblige. However our server was completely unprepared and undertrained. She had to come back multiple times because she didn’t know what to do. The drink refills were also lacking. Had to ask for a refill twice and during dessert never got my refill. She also never once cleared a dish. We shared a desert and couldn’t even pass the plate back and forth because of the dishes on the table. When we got the bill she had accidentally charged us for 2 of an item and we had to get that fixed. 2/5 for the service.
I would not recommend eating here if you like good, well trained service and tasty properly prepared food.

I’m adding this review because of what we witnessed by the owner while dining this evening. We dine at this restaurant on a regular basis-on average, once a week. Tonight we witnessed the owner himself loudly berate the manager in the dining area near the kitchen doors about the fact that she threw away old bread and she shouldn’t have. As a food business owner myself, I understand food costs are high and frustrating. I also would never find this behavior acceptable. You do not raise your voice and disrespectfully speak to an employee ever but to even think of doing that in the main dining area is even worse. While we wish to support the waiters and waitresses, we cannot bring ourselves to support this business ever again after what we witnessed. The fact that the owner himself behaved this way, then come to find out, this is normal according to other staff, we will not bring our business back to this restaurant. I hope the owner does see this and spends some time self reflecting on his behavior and decides to treat people with the respect they deserve.

Always busy whenever we eat here; but there is seating available due to the size of the building & staff are extremely efficient. As you go in there are fabulous desserts displayed, so it’s hard not to get one of these delicious treats for the road. The food is freshly made & hot when it reaches your table. Plus, it always tastes great. This is definitely a favorite!

Young man at reception was rude, loud on his ears buds. Speaking in a different language. Didn’t know whether he wanted me to follow him to a table or if he was even was talking to me. He did to other customers as well. Disruptive for at least 20 minutes on his ear buds talking way to loud. Ridiculous! Ashame, that is what you have to represent your restaurant at the door. Waitress and food top notch!

Really nice diner, it’s changed hands a few times over the years but the current owners/staff are incredible. It’s lovely inside, lots of space which is good because its always busy.
The food is great quality, good portions and delicious, menu choice is unbelievable.
The staff are always super polite and friendly. Our server Jessica was very attentive, cheerful and a big smile on her face.
A great diner for any meal of the day. Highly recommend.

Great selection, friendly staff, and prompt service. Veterans get a 10 percent discount. My husband loves the chipped gravy over buttered biscuits with their home fried potatoes.
