Start with the fried pickles: thick-cut, aggressively crunchy, and still whispering cucumber secrets under the breading. They crackle like a campfire snack at a slasher retreat, especially dunked in that cool, herby ranch. Then there’s the mac and cheese, which shows up bubbling and glossy, wearing a molten cheese cap like it knows it’s the final boss of side dishes. Creamy, rich, and unapologetically old-school.
The chicken fried steak is pure Southern gothic. A slab of beef buried under a golden crust and drowned in white gravy so thick it feels legally binding. Each bite is crisp, salty, and deeply soothing, like being hugged by your grandma while a thunderstorm rolls in.
The burger goes full excess: double patty, melted cheddar sliding everywhere, bacon stacked high, red onion crunch cutting through the chaos. It’s messy in the way all great burgers are — napkins surrender immediately.
Finally, the catfish: crispy, fried to a perfect amber, flaky inside, and paired with homemade tartar sauce that actually tastes alive. Main Street Cafe isn’t chasing trends. It’s resurrecting classics — and doing it loudly, proudly, and deliciously.
Owners were super nice. Easy to park too. Downtown Garland was nice on a week night.
The salad was very fresh and the salmon was perfectly cooked.
I highly recommend giving this place a try!!
I was impressed! I got the spinach/strawberry/ pecan salad with chicken. Every bite was delicious! Everything on the plate was perfect! The chicken was cooked perfectly, strawberries ripe and flavorful, pecans were fresh, spinach was fresh – not a single bit of it was bad (it’s been a long time since I had a salad out and could say this). The perfect amount of vinaigrette dressing was mixed in. It was truly memorable.
Just prior to finishing my salad, I overheard my waitress (also the owner, I was told) asking another patron if they wanted dessert, so when she asked me, I was already prepared to ask about the Belgian chocolate mousse cake. Oh my gosh! It was roll your eyes up in your head good! They were so nice and there were little touches like plants, fresh flowers and art painted on the little black folders they bring your check to you in. I highly recommend this place!
After a very stressful weekend and day, we wanted some good food and let me just say,” They DIDN’T disappoint!” I even enjoyed my left overs because it was too much to eat in one sitting. I ordered their Spinach salad with fried chicken on top, along with feta cheese, strawberries, pecans and their Balsamic Dressing. It was DEELISH! My Sister’s had, Chicken Fried Chicken, Hamburger, Chicken Fried Steak, Truffle Garlic Fries and more. It was all cooked to perfection. Wait staff was nice and attentive. The atmosphere was was nice. I will be going back.
